So saddened to learn of Eugene’s passing. Carole, you just might remember when Eugene was a student (though really a tutor!) in Bolton Street he was so generous with his knowledge and time and often hosted a few of us, then raw untamed motor engineers, for workshop weekends in Dunboyne. Being older and wiser than the rest of us the ‘learning’ continued well into the night. Very fond and grateful memories. Míle buíochas Eugene and deepest sympathies to you Carole and family. Ian

Our deepest sympathies to Carole, Aonghus, Eoghan on the passing of Eugene RIP. A pleasure serving my time with Eugene in Blackbull Marine Engineering many years ago.
Eugene was a proud Mayo man who lived a long and productive life. On graduating from Gormanston College he joined the 35th Cadet Class in the Curragh in 1961. On commissioning there he was posted to the Army Equitation School where his equestrian talent saw him become a member of the famous Army jumping teams of the 60’s. However, injuries sustained in an unfortunate accident on a team tour to Germany prematurely brought an end to his jumping career. He took this setback as an opportunity and pursed an engineering degree which subsequently allowed him to leave the Army and set up his own creative engineering business which he developed as a niche provider to the Marine industry, both nationally and internationally. This interest in the sea naturally led to his acquisition of a yacht and , for a while, even his own trawler. Music was part of his family's life and his lifelong friendship with Barney Mc Kenna (a Howth fisherman also) of the Dubliners and Matt Molloy of the Chieftains was a lasting testament to this. He endured his cancer diagnosis and it’s invasive treatment over a decade ago with a courage and determination to recover that was a mark of the man. While this was another physical setback he didn’t allow it to interfere with the day to day work of his business. Positivity, creativity and drive were the hallmarks of his life. My sincere condolences to Carole, Aengus and Eoghan. Solas na bhFlaiteas da anam uasal.
My deepest sympathy to Carole, Aonghus, Eoghan and extended family on the sad passing of Eugene. May he rest in peace
