Deepest sympathies to you all, we remember Eugene with great fondness, he was a legend, so sorry we couldn’t make his funeral as we are out of the country at the moment.
I have fond memories of his newspaper articles particularly those of Larry Mc Gann. They were so true and typical of a small rural Club. Hopefully someone might put them in book format some day. May Eugene rest in peace.

Condolences to the McGee family on the death of Eugene.Always will be remembered for Offalys great win against Kerry going for a five in a row. So glad to be at that match before we left for Australia.
So sorry to hear of Eugene ‘s sudden death he has gone unfortunately long before his time . I remember from his Longford Leader days working across the road from him in New St and regularly chatting in the Market Bar at lunchtimes and often when a few of us would go for drinks after work.. they were lovely times and very fond memories. He was such an inspirational friendly and so down to earth realistic guy. I wasn’t into football so I never would you believe it in that regard... I just knew him as the Longford Leader guy.... My heart goes out to to his wife his family and friends... such a huge loss for them. Rest In Peace Eugene.
Thanks for the memories rest in peace fellow Gael
Eugene was a kind, dedicated and uniquely talented editor and a good man. My deepest sympathies to his family. I have very fond memories of his little girl Linda visiting him in the Leader office when I worked there one summer, and of how proud he was of her. I am thinking of you all this week and remembering Eugene with admiration.
My deepest sympathy to Marian, Conor, Linda, Saoirse, Ita, Evangeline and the wider family.

Eugene will be remembered for many things in the world of the G.A.A but his achievement in dashing the expectation of that great Kerry team for the 5 in a row will never, ever, be forgotten.
He was a straight talking man who gave and got respect from everyone who knew him. We will remember and speak often about him.
