Dear Anne,

I was shocked to hear of Eunan's passing last week but in time to offer us the opportunity to follow the funeral mass on the internet.

The few words which Eunan allowed to be spoken of himself were not only typical of him but absolutely accurate, The two words that stand out for me are principled and compassionate .
Eunan was one of those people whose entire life journey at home and abroad was based on values of integrity and service. The "dash" in his case was full of good.

Having lost contact for too many years it was good to see that he has been blessed by many grandchildren and had the pleasure of their company.

Speaking of Eunan's virtues underlines the loss he represents to you Anne and the rest of your family. As the celebrant mentioned we have our Christian Hope but equally the pain of separation. We will remember you in our prayers at this difficult time as ,like you, we retain fond memories of Eunan in our hearts.
