Eve McCarthy

Even though its been a long time since I last spoke with Eve, I’m so grateful I got to know her during our exchange and share so many amazing moments with her both in Dublin and Seville. I will always remember her, she was such a cheerful and kind person. She really had an impact in my life and I often think about how good her family welcomed me, you all made me feel as if I was home in Dublin. My family also has very fond memories of Eve from when she stayed with us here in Seville, we are all deeply saddened by this news.
We are keeping Paul, Helen, James and your whole family in our prayers.

I had the immense privilege of knowing Eve from my first year of college when she joined BioSoc as treasurer. I was always stressed, but Eve never failed to reassure me, always saying she got this and that everything was under control. She had a calming and radiant presence and talking to her felt like a warm hug.

Eve was endlessly selfless, always the first to offer help and never hesitating to say yes. I deeply admired her kindness, humor, incredible sense of style, and the way she always approached things with a positive mindset. The way she lived -with so much love and selflessness left a lasting impact on everyone who knew her, and I will carry that with me.

I can see how much Eve meant to her best friends, and the impact she had on them is immeasurable. She will be forever loved for the beautiful and kind person she was, and her memory will always live on.

My heart goes out to Eve’s family during this incredibly difficult time. I send my deepest sympathies, and I hope you can find some comfort in knowing how deeply she was cherished and how many lives she touched with her warmth and kindness.

Eve was such a beautiful person. She showed me such kindness and was so gentle. She made everyone feel so special. I remain in awe at the amount of things she managed to do in her short time. To Helen, Paul and James, I am so so sorry for your loss. I will never forget Eve’s kind soul and quick wit. May she rest in peace

Although I didn't have the chance to see her grow, I got to know her through your words and how proud you were of the young woman she had become. Eve's funeral mass was very special in every way.

Devastated to learn of Eve’s tragic passing. I knew Eve from her work in the Kings Inn pub in Dalkey. She was such a lovely friendly young lady who clearly had a huge future ahead of her. She was always smiling and in great form and many’s the chat we had about college and future plans. She was an absolute credit to her family and it is just so incredibly cruel and heartbreaking that she was taken so young.

We don’t know each other, but our daughters were in the same year at Loreto Abbey School. All the Loreto girls spoke of the warmth and sheer loveliness of Eve, and her passing has touched the hearts of everyone.

Having lost my own daughter many years ago, I understand that there really are very few words that can bring you any comfort on the loss of Eve. During this incredibly sad time, please know that there is a community of mothers (and fathers) wishing you well and breathing in and out with you, as you, Paul and James navigate this loss together.

Love never dies, and I hope her memories and legacy will one day bring you joy and hope once again.

I only met eve 3 or 4 times and I hadn’t seen her since I was 13/14 but I remember her warmth, kindness and chattiness. I had recently moved and didn’t have many friends yet. I recall meeting her and thinking wow I hope everyone here is this lovely. Her cheeky, infectious smile will forever be engraved in my memories and although we didn’t remain friends I’ll never forget the kindness she showed me.

Eve was one of my good friends in college, she never once failed to show up when she was asked; she was always present and always smiling lighting up the mood of any room she walked into. She really did have a talent with people, she was just the most infectious person I have ever met. We worked a lot together on a society, spending many hours together planning and organising, to which we were a perfect team; she always understood my ideas, helped me make them work, and selflessly allowed me to take the credit. I can’t thank her enough for all she helped me with and all I was able to learn from her. A true pocket rocket, always living life to its fullest whilst never leaving anyone behind. Her cheek and attitude will stay with me forever, her smile too, and her love of a statement piece.

I am so incredibly grateful for Eve, and want to thank Paul and Helen for raising one of the most beautiful souls I’ll meet.

My thoughts and love are with Paul, Helen, and James, I admire your strength as a family so much.
