I worked with Ewan in Coats Patons , in fact he was the one who told me about the job, and I feel very sad to have seen his death today on “Ireland Remembers”. He was such a nice man. My sincere sympathy to all of his family.

From saying hello to him at Sunday mass and enjoying his ever present smile, to seeing him going about his business quietly and caringly as Sacristan, to hear of his dramatic exploits and hear his laughter, to have him as a throughtful neighbour in Esker Lawns - all of this will be missed, but will be remembered.

So sad to hear of Ewan's passing. He was a real gentleman who also carried out his church duties in such a professional manner.

Very difficult to describe the sense of loss and the ending of an era I felt at the passing of my oldest and dearest friend Ewan. For a decade or more in Cork we did shows, reviews and plays together with me as very much the junior partner. Also we shared unforgetteble memories, chiefly the very great honour I had in being best man at his wedding to Joan, truly a marriage made in Heaven. His kindness, support and absolute talent shone out always. My very deepest sympathies go to his wonderful famiy. They are his true memorial
