Fearghal Morgan

Deepest condolences to Fionnuala, Doireann, Eorann, Conall and families and to Fearghal's mother and siblings and all his extended family and friends. We have such lovely memories of spending time with you in Davis Avenue, and you are in our thoughts and prayers at this very sad time.

Fearghal Morgan was a beacon of joy, music, and intrigue that few get to meet in this life. He was curious and passionate and had a depth to living that was unmatched. He is often remembered for his social and musical skills, but I was also lucky enough to help briefly on ViciLogic with him; few can master the enthusiasm Fearghal had in any domain, but he brought it to every world he entered.

He brought his family up to be kind to me, to let me in, to invite me on their family holidays - to experience a community and a belonging that I don't often feel. Some of my most exciting and rewarding musical outings were enabled by his enduring confidence in every person he interacted with. He lifted you up in a somewhat mandatory way, a gentle sternness of 'you will do this, but you will enjoy it, trust me'. I only failed once, when, after a few pints, he insisted I could play the Kesh on the cornet (with no music), and made the trad band play it on repeat 7 times. Sorry Fearghal - I will learn it one day.

He let me in and he listened, shared, and lived! The pain of his absence is only dulled by the enormous corpora of stories and memories that those who knew him can share. He was a beautiful soul who I aspire to be like when I'm at my best. I am sorry he had to leave so soon and I will always be grateful for the experiences and time I spent with him. I know he is missed universally and I feel beyond lucky that I knew him well enough to be part of that.

The years have gone so quickly from those youthful days in St Malachys. I am thankful of the few chats that we had in Galway since then. God bless you Fearghal. May you rest in peace.

Uncle Fearghal, my hero and my running mate on this crazy brain cancer journey for close to two years. You did not give up once, all the way to the very end. Your strength, positivity, grace and courage was something truly special to behold.
