Feargus was a good colleague in RTÉ and, while seriously public-spirited, was blessed with a great sense of humour. My condolences to his family, immediate and extended, and to his friends.

Sincere sympathy to all of Feargus's family on his passing. The remembrances of the speakers in the Unitarian Church in Dublin highlighted Feargus's great intellect, his insightful iconoclasm and thirst for a better world which I experienced when working with him as part of Pat Rabbitte's team. My oldest cousin, we never met but I was honoured to hear from you a couple of Xmasses ago. Such a shock and an early shame. RIP

I’m so sad to hear of Feargus’s death. He was always good-natured and brave and unorthodox on his approach to the big questions of the day. Farewell Feargus. Comrade, colleague, friend.

I extend my heartfelt sympathy to all of you on the sad loss of your beloved Feargus. He was an excellent broadcaster on RTE. I remember the warmth and friendliness of his family around Letterkenny in the 70s.

I was shocked and saddened to hear of Feargus' passing. We had lost contact but I have fond memories of the numerous earnest discussions we had about politics and economic policy back in the '80s and '90s. He was a regular attender at the Doheny and Nesbitt School of Economics although it's probably fair to say he was not a staunch adherent to all elements of the School's credo! Feargus is a huge loss.

I worked with him for many years in RTE, and counted him my friend after that.

We are at a loss for his way with words, his sharp, logical mind, his courage to challenge consensus, and his strong sense of justice.
