Sincere sympathy to the McGovern family & community. Glan has lost her favourite son. Big Faley....So many memories of a man who inspired. His presence as a kind neighbour, a community activist, Bishop's nominee BOM, pioneer dinner dances, church maintenance before fas, maintenance of the water scheme in all weathers, dances bazzars ceilies bonfire etc. A shepherd to his sheep and a leader among people. He loved chats cups of tea and didn't suffer fools. Non judgemental. Kind generous proud and always faithful.

His absence....felt greatly. I remember you in prayer.

Glan has lost a great man. Our gentle giant neighbour and great friend is gone to heaven. I have great memories of him coming to my granny's and uncle Packie when I lived there. I always called him Alexander from I was a child don't know why but he seemed to like it. So Alexander I will miss you may you rest in peace.

I am saddened to learn of the death of Faley. He was a stalwart in the Glan Community. Fond memories of Faley at the “Box Office” in Glan Hall A gang of us from ‘the Lower Side’ would arrive at the door of Glad Hall on the night of a dance. The taller of those among us would be chatting Faley while the younger smaller ones slipped in. We thought Faley didn’t know our tricks but now in hind sight I’m sure he did but he choose to turn a blind eye on us. Faley was big in heart and big in stature. He was such a decent man and very obliging neighbour. We could all take a lesson from his life. May the Glan soil rest lightly on you Faley and May you now share eternal rest

All of these condolences are a real testament to Felix. As a family, we traveled to Ireland for the first time in 1979 and visited Cavan and Felix's home. Probably not a surprise...he was out working when we stopped by and wasn't there so we missed him then. However, I was fortunate to meet Felix on his 80th birthday in Glan. Condolences to Maggie, Tommy, the Glennon children and extended family and friends. You were all so good and kind to Felix. May he Rest In Peace. Grace

Recall in days before cattle crushes were invented Faley was called upon to catch the cattle in the shed for the vet. When Faley emerged from the shed, test completed, he would promptly remind you to raise the roof a little for next year. Fondly remembered, good Neighbour, Godfather and Friend. R.I.P Faley

I am saddened to hear of the sad passing of one of Glans favourite sons. I got to Felix many years ago and reading through the condolences that the people have Glan have written its easy to see why Felix was such a loved and popular person. We have reached an end of an era with Faley’s passing. As our closest childhood neighbour he was always on hand for emergency work/ lifts to places namely Mass or to Glan Hall which was a hive of activity and when travelling with Faley you got to stay till the end!
Great memories with the onset of the Arrival of the extended families for their summer holidays to Curraghglass….
He was a man of many talents/ knowledgeable and a good friend and neighbour.
We enjoyed his daily visits !

Felix and I were first cousins. I visited him on his 80th birthday. He was gentle and showed his Irish charm. He will indeed be missed but the joy of knowing him will stay in my memory as will the lovely town of Glan. Felix is with God now and at peace. Maureen

Sad to hear the news of Faley's passing. Definitely the end of an era. For many years in the parish singlehandedly from a maintenance point of view he kept the show on the road. Be it the chapel, the hall, the schools. Loads more of us benefitted too whenever we had a problem with plumbing, electrics or whatever. We wont see his likes again.
