I worked with Fergus for a very long time in the Passport Office, he was my last Team Lead before his retirement. He was a great character and a wonderful mentor, I learnt so much from him. Always up for a bit of a laugh, we always had good fun chatting about the many Public Houses in the Big Smoke!!! He wasn’t shy of rubbing it in when Cork were beaten in Gaa matches!! Jack you were his pride & joy. May he rest in peace.

Sincere condolences to the Magee on the very sad news of Fergus’s passing.
I have very fond memories of our close friendship from our childhood years to early adulthood growing up in Killester. I was in the same class as Fergus in primary school and his academic ability, along with a very good memory, was very clear to see at the early stage.
Growing up, Fergus was always someone who loved a bit of action and adventure. Two instances that stand out were the summer when we were only 12 years old we travelled the length and breadth of the city on buses with our CIE rambler tickets (simpler times then). The second adventure didn’t actually happen, but we had planned to go to a Chelsea game in Liverpool for my 13th birthday. Unfortunately, to our disappointment, our parents knocked that idea on the head a few days before we were due to travel.
Like all kids in the area, Fergus loved football, and we played endlessly with a group of lads in those years on the road, in ‘the field’ and up in St. Annes. He later proved to be an outstanding goalkeeper in adult football. We also regularly went to matches around the city supporting Shels and the Irish national team and we were fortunate to get abroad to a few Ireland games at a time when foreign travel wasn’t as easy as it is now.
Rest in peace, my old friend. I will always remember the wonderful times we had growing up in Killester. Willie

Uncle Fergus looked after me so well the first time I ventured out of Australia on my own. I remember his quick wit, his mad curls (which my eldest has inherited) and his love for a laugh. Time has passed since we saw him and Jack but the memories remain. Deepest condolences to Jack and Jemma. May those around you bring you comfort in the coming days and months as you walk this hardest of paths. Rest in eternal peace uncle Fergus.

I am so sorry for your loss - he was a wonderful person, may your happy memories bring you comfort over the coming weeks RIP Fergus
Fergus was a gentleman and a kind neighbour. I remember visiting Jack’s house as a child and having fun playing with Lego and video games. Fergus used to cut up fruits for us (and Eoin when he visited) and leave us to ourselves to play. It’s a simple gesture but it’s something that stayed with me.
As we grew up, I saw Jack and Fergus less and less but recently I had the pleasure of having a chat with Fergus while he was mowing the lawn. Though we may grow distant, those days are a part of my childhood and I will remember them forever.
Sincere condolences to Jack and those close to Fergus. May he rest in peace.

Fergus, it was a joy to have had you as a neighbour and I have always enjoyed the impromptu chats we have had over the years when we met outside mowing the lawns. Topics were never scarce and you were always a good listener.
You had a warm wit and I'll always recall the joy and energy with which you spoke of Jack. I will remember you every time I'm out mowing the lawn. May God rest your soul.

Le meas,
I was very sorry to hear this sad news and I want to offer my deepest condolences to his son Jack and to Colm, Dermot, Bren, Maeve, Emer and the wider family.
I grew up with Fergus on Furry Park (in Killester) and we had great times together as kids and subsequently as adults as we made our way in the world. As can happen in life, we saw less of each other in recent years but I have nothing but fond memories of Fergus; his companionship, good humour and great conversation. He was a very sociable man with a great sense of humour but behind that 'light touch' he had a curious and sharp mind and he was happy to talk about politics, work, sport, family, life - you name it. I remember well the weekend I spent with him in London when he was working there, with the two of us putting the world to right very late into the night.
Fergus was a good man and loyal friend. May he rest in peace.

To Jack, Jemma and all the Magee family my deepest condolences. I worked for many years with Fergus in the PPO Cork. He was always a dear wise friend and was a comfort to me when going through tough times. His knowledge of every subject was so vast you could discuss anything with him and we normally did. His wit was legendary and could often lighten the day. Jack you were his world so please take comfort in that. His face would light up at the mention of your name and his voice even changed when he spoke to you on the phone it was always so loving. It is such a shock to know he is not physically with us anymore but his spirit and kindness will ripple through time comforting us all. Sleep well dear friend I'll miss that cheeky grin.
I am so saddened to hear of Fergus' untimely death. He was my work colleague in the London Embassy for four years. His support and commitment was exceptional. Following his accident, he returned to his work with extraordinary zeal and gave 100% always. He was a very popular member of the Embassy staff and I valued his friendship immensely.
My sincere sympathy to his son Jack, of whom he was so proud, and to his brothers and sisters and to his many friends. He will be missed by all who knew him. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam uasal.

To Jack and all the Magee family,
It is with great sadness that I have learned of the passing of Fergus. I worked with Fergus in the passport office in Dublin before we both transferred to the Irish Embassy in London during which time he had his bad fall and was in hospital for several months. But he never lost his upbeat spirit and was always determined to get back to his old self again.
I always found Fergus to be a true gentleman who had time for everyone in both the work and social environments. His sense of camaraderie and fun made him so easy to be around and the laugh and the craic was always near him.
May his gentle soul now Sleep in Peace

He never failed to send the Email when the Dubs beat Mayo! I am saddened to hear of his passing. Rest in peace Fergus.
Fergus always had a smile on his face and had a great sense of humour. I spent many an hour in his company, we might try and list all the states in the USA or discuss the latest in science, politics or football. Fergus had a huge width and depth of interest in almost everything and he was really great company. We'd solve all the world's problems and call for another round. My condolences to all his family and those close to him, he will be missed greatly.
My sincere condolences to Jack and the Magee family at this sad time. May Fergus RIP
