So very sad to hear about Filimíne. She was so kind and generous to the students and parents in scoil iognaid. An absolute breath of fresh air and an amazing personality that inspired the students and parents alike. Filimíne was alway so genuine and helpful in every way and clearly cared so much about the school and students. She is a huge loss. I'm so, so sorry for your loss. Filimíne was a beautiful human being, who was never anything but warm, kind, thoughtful and happy in all the times we had the pleasure of dealing with her as parents to Cóilín (15, now in Colaise Iognaid) and Fia (Rang 5) in the school. She had such generosity of spirit and shared this with everyone she came into contact with. She was one of those people who makes the world a better place just by her presence, her attitude and her behaviour. Such was the esteem in which Cóilín held her that he insisted on coming to Spiddal with us to form part of the guard of honour. He wanted to be there to show his love, support and respect for someone who always showed him such care and kindness. Deepest sympathies to you all. She will be remembered as the most wonderful of people and will always be loved by those fortunate enough to know her.

Sincere sympathy on the immeasurable loss of beloved Filimine. I worked with her in Holy Trinity NS Mervue (now Radharc na Mara) in the early 80s. She was so loving and caring towards the children and always kind, positive and obliging to the whole school community. We had the best of times. She will be sorely missed. Rest well, dear Filimine.

Emily, so sorry to hear of Filimíne’s passing. I have such fond memories of her as my múinteoir in the naoínra. She was the first person to teach me my first words as Gaeilge. Without her I wouldn’t have the Gaeilge that I have today. She was always so kind to us in the bunscoil.

We are heartbroken to hear of the untimely passing of Filimíne. She was a fabulous lady. I will never forget her warmth, caring, comforting nature and friendliness. I can still hear her voice saying 'creatúr bocht' when Molly was feeling unwell in naionán beaga. She had wonderful compassion and heart. She had a way of reaching out to parents and children alike in a very natural way. Sincere condolences to her family, staff and Scoil Íognáid Community (past and present). We are so sad and haven’t stopped thinking of you all this week.
She was a true gem who touched the hearts of everyone who knew her in Scoil Iognáid.
Filimíne took the time to make connections with parents and children alike, and for this we are so grateful. Carrie always made sure she had something small for her coming back from holidays or at Christmas which is testament to the esteem she held her in.

To Múinteoir Emilí and her family, friends, colleagues and students who were ever touched by the kind soul of Filimíne.

I’ll never forget Filimíne’s way of being present. She was acquainted with each and every child’s name as they passed by her under the shadow of the trees in Scoil Iognaid each morning.

When I first brought Bodhi through the gates she was one of the first faces I met and she asked my daughter’s name. Each and every morning after that she repeated it to me - including mine - which I was amazed at. I overheard her do the same recall to other parents with more than one child in tow. It reaffirmed to me that all would be well with these first few ropey weeks integrating my child into the school environment.

Filimíne was a remarkable individual and a perfect representative of the warmth of the environment where she worked. She had a calming, respectful nature and was a great conversationalist. Filimíne’s memory will definitely live on in our home.

We were so sad to hear of Filimíne's passing. She was always so friendly and welcoming in the school clós. She had such a lovely way with everyone and she somehow knew every child by name and who their brothers and sisters were. The school just won’t be the same without her. Filimína was always there and a constant mother figure with a smile, a hug, and a hand for the children to hold. 

She always knew when they felt excluded or sad, and reached out to let them know she was there for them.

Such a deep loss, we are all thinking of her family and school colleagues at this very sad time.

Filimena really was the heart of Scoil Iognaid. She radiated warmth and kindness and made everyone feel like the most special person in the room. May her gentle soul rest in peace. 💔

Filimíne was an absolute gift to the school and to our children. Thank you to Emilí and her family, for sharing her with the entire school community who cherished her so fondly. I so enjoyed having the chats, laughs and hugs with her during communion prep. She did 80% of the work and wanted 0% of the praise! She was genuinely there for every child, parent and staff member of the school.

My children adored her, and also thought she was the boss!
