I met Finbar on two occasions when I was visiting family in Ireland. We exchanged stories about the different branches of the family: mine in Canada and France, Finbar and his father in Dublin. For the second visit, we were in town for a concert, so music became the topic of conversation. Finbar mentioned how much he likes the music of Kylie Minogue. My lasting memory of Finbar was this conversation we had about the joy of music.

I met Finbar during one of the most truly magical years of my life, 1980, when he was just 6 years old, and I got to spend an entire year getting to know and play (and yes, dance) with him. He's had a unique impact on my life that has never diminished in strength. He taught me that happiness in life can be achieved by focusing on what's most important; having a box of crayons (to give life to our dream-images), having a music player (so we can celebrate life with dance and singing along), and having action figures which we can play out being braver than our human selves are. Thankfully I was able to keep in contact with Finbar’s family members throughout his life and could keep appraised of his developments. Having known him gives me power to believe in bigger possibilities for my own life, thru following a path of simplicity, purity and innocence, and embracing joy. THANK YOU FINBAR FOR BEING MY FRIEND, I'LL NEVER FORGET YOU.
