Áine and I also wish to pass on our condolences to Finbarr’s son-in-law and Áine’s cousin, Jeremy. Finbarr was a massive figure in IMPACT and so well respected. He gave so much to the Trade Union movement. He was a man who had a great way with words and was well able to speak off the cuff. He had such wonderful stories and great wit, he was always a pleasure to be around, chat with and receive advice from. He got on so well with people, I know he will be missed and fondly remembered by a wide circle of friends. Rest in peace Finbarr.

I was very saddened to hear of Finbarr's passing. I knew him very well in our LGPSU and IMPACT days. A man of wonderful stories and compassion while also a passionately committed trade unionist. He always spoke so lovingly of his family. We had some great times together over the years at Union Conferences and meetings and it was great to meet up with him again in recent times. Finbarr was without doubt, one of the good guys. It was an honour to have known him. Suaimhneas síoraí dá anam dílis. May he rest in peace.

Very sorry to hear of Finbarr's passing. I knew him from his IMPACT days. Always a pleasure to meet, and we met at many conferences. Always a smile, knew everybody's name, loved his activism and gave a lot of himself to many things. Will be sadly missed by all who knew him.

Deepest condolences to the O'Driscoll family on the death of Finbarr. I had the privilege of knowing and working with Finbarr in Forsa (IMPACT). He was a kind and caring man, a man who listened, and was genuinely interested in the lives and wellbeing of the people he represented during his many years working with the Union he loved. I will remember him with great fondness.

Doris and Family, our deepest sympathy on the death of Finbarr. Finbarr involved himself in the Twinning Association and as Mayor admirably represented Cobh in Ploermel during a visit in 2011. We have fond memories of you both on that visit and Finbarr's level of French did not inhibit him in any way! He struck up a great rapport with all and people in Ploermel still enquire about him. I was saddened to hear of Finbarr's death and sorry that this wretched virus prevented his many friends from attending his funeral and extending our sympathies in person to Doris, Alan, Hilary Cian and your extended family. I got to know Finbarr through his involvement with the Union. He was always active with a 'get up and go' approach to any task at a local or national level. He was passionate about the Union and its work. He had a genuine interest in people which is evidenced by the many friends he made the length and breath of the country. He embraced the opportunity to become Union President and gained many admirers for the intelligent and steady way he steered us through challenging times. We will always be grateful for Finbarr's dedication to social justice and the contribution he made to making us a better Trade Union movement.
It was a privilege to have known and worked with him. May he rest in peace.

My deepest sympathies to Doris, Alan, Hilary, Cian and Family on the death of their beloved Finbarr. He gave an enormous amount of time and effort for the benefit of others.
When I encouraged him to get involved in trade union affairs I never foresaw the avalanche of dedication, sacrifice and commitment he was to give. I have many happy memories of our shared union involvement - his was much greater than mine! We travelled together to and room-shared at many conferences. We had many chats about serious matters but also about music and we had some laughs about his, and my lack of, interest in Manchester United!
I took it for granted that we would chat again sometime soon but....!

Am very sorry to hear of Finbarrs passing. He was a neighbour and friend of mine in Cobh. Always friendly and would meet him in Blackpool. And have lovely chats of old of younger days in Cobh. Would meet him in Dunnes and shopping would be on hold for quiet some time. Very interesting he was, and had a great memory of times pass.

Finbarr was a gentleman out and out and will miss. His company and laughts we had.
