Fintan was a family friend and often present as we were growing up. He gave me a present of Bruce Springsteen’s Born to Run for my 21st which I still have. I remember him as a sensitive caring big hearted and generous man who gave much. I offer my best wishes to his family and to all those who miss him.

My condolences to Yves and Farrell family on sudden passing of Fintan. I worked with him in the early 90s through ITM and EAPN Ireland. His commitment to anti poverty work was inspirational. Most of all, he was quite simply a joy to be around and never short of a good song. May he rest in peace.
I only have positive, happy memories of Fintan. He was a great singer and a larger than life character with a great sense of humour. He was a classmate of mine when we did the Diploma in Youth and Community in Maynooth. We both worked with the Traveller community and he was a tireless advocate for their rights. May he rest in peace.
May Fintan rest in peace and may Yves, his extended family and all who loved and treasured him find comfort.
He led a good life and left lessons and legacy for us all.
Through my Disability Federation of Ireland,DFI, work and with the European Disability Forum, EDF, I came across Fintan.
My last time meeting Fintan was sharing a packed and uncomfortable bus to the airport in Brussels, yet I only remember it for the pleasure, humour and thoughtfulness of his warm company. We chatted about his home place, his mother and ……

And i am sorry for not fully appreciating your immensity in this world and all you gave to others. .We will miss you so much. Thank you for your great love for us all, and walking some of this road with us. . . I wish it were possible to tell you in person one last time, or even for the first time. . May the road rise to meet you, May the wind be at your back, May the sun shine warm upon your face and until we meet again May you be held in the loving arms of God. . Xxxx Anne, Gerry, Eve and Grace

My heartfelt condolences to Fintan's family, to his partner Yves and all Fintan's friends, with whom I mourn the loss of a wonderful friend and a powerful advocate for human rights. I was lucky enough to have crossed his path in 1999 and worked with him within EAPN and then as a consultant up until very recently. In 2002, Fintan came to Brussels to replace me as Policy Officer during my maternity leave and stayed on later as Director of the network. I gave birth to my daughter Manon, for whom I always considered Fintan to be a guardian angel. Such a privilege to keep in touch all these years, catching up regularly, supporting each other in our decisions, next steps and struggles. He was a true friend.
Of all the many qualities in Fintan, I wish for all of us to continue to be inspired by his unwavering wholeheartedness. May it inspire us as we continue our journeys, until we meet him again.

I am so so sorry for the sudden death of Fintan. He had such great love for people and was such a rock - always positively interested in life's twists and turns collectively and individually. It is very hard to think of him gone.
Thank you to his closest for arranging the services to be livestreamed; it meant a lot to be able to witness such a sorrowful but beautiful moment. Fintan's spirit and approach was so tangible that it was heartening.
I sincerely wish all his family and friends lots of support.

So shocked and sad to hear about Fintan's passing away. I've known Fintan for more than 20 years and he has such infectious personality and character, and a gentleness and assuredness about him. A lovely and kind-hearted individual. Enjoyed his singing and soothing voice. He will be sorely missed. Rest in peace.

May he rest in peace
I first met Fintan in 1984 when I came to live and work in Teach Bríde, Tullow and for three years shared the joys and challenges of living in community with Fintan and others. Fintan was present at my marriage to Peter in 1995 and although we never met in person since then, we have kept in contact over the years by letter, postcard an electronically. I feel deeply blessed to have known Fintan: his friendship was a gift, his laughter a tonic, and his integrity sound, unwavering and inspirational.
My deepest sympathy to Yves and all of Fintan's family in your grief. May you be comforted by the outpouring of love for Fintan from so many people.
I will pray for his kind and beautiful soul. Blessings to you all.

May he Rest in peace amen.
May he Rest in peace amen.
My sincere condolences and warmest sympathy to Fintan's family and friends on the loss of Fintan. He was a great inspirator to work with and a generous friend. We became brother and sister 'in arms', in the fight against poverty and injustice, he as director of EAPN and me as MEP. I was strongly motivated by his enthousiasm when working with Fintan in several projects of the European Minimum Income Network (EMIN). Only Fintan was capable of launching a crazy but o so ingenious project like the EMIN bus, where we toured across all the countries in Europe to mobilize people on the idea that a decent income is the most important means to get people out of poverty. His sudden death has shocked me like many others. Fintan will be missed very much. But as a speaker said during the farewell ceremony, we will not only remember him in our memories of the past; his spirit will stay with us as we continue to commit to fight for a better world for all. Rest in power, Fintan and thank you for everything.

Our lovely cousin Fintan has left us far too soon but with wonderful, heart warming memories. A great humanitarian and a friend to all. He has left his mark on this world and left it a better place. We are so proud of Fintan and everything he stood for. Condolences to all who loved Fintan.

At this sudden death of Fintan, we would like to express our deepest condolences to his family and friends and let them know that we experienced Fintan as a man with a big heart that could comprehend the whole world. This has become clear to us through the many times he participated in our human rights training for leaders of grassroots communities in the five continents. His listening attitude and his sharp input gave the participants a boost of inspiration to get to work concretely in their daily reality with the International Human Rights Conventions of the United Nations.
From our intercontinental human rights organization Dignity International, we were lucky to experience Fintan as someone who was a fervent fighter for human rights in an engaging and amiable way that was his own. Fintan has meant a lot to many people in several continents. His passing away is a great loss for so many but his inspiration will continue to work.

My sincere condolences to his partner Yves and his family. Fintan will for ever be in my and our hearts. He showed all of us what a warmhearted person can do to change this world into a better place. I had the pleasure to know Fintan for over three decades as a colleague, a friend, a co fighter. He shaped the fight against exclusion and against poverty in a way that we all can follow: with perseverance, hard work, a laugh and a song now and than and with an open heart. Thank you Fintan for everything. Fare well and, who knows, we might meet again.
I am very saddened by Fintan's untimely passing away. We have worked together for 12 years to advance European social inclusion policies, at Social Platform, with the Greens and as a consultant, namely at the ESF Transnational Platform.
In my heart will always remain alive the memory of a passionate man, with strong ideals, who truly believed in what he was doing, always paying attention to the most vulnerable. You will be missed by me and many others.
My deepest condolences to his family and loved ones, including on behalf of AEIDL colleagues.

I was so sorry to hear of Fintan’s untimely and tragic death. My deepest condolences to his family and friends
I knew Fintan for many years in Brussels as a colleague, when he was working for EAPN Europe, and then as a boss when he was President of the Social Platform, and as a friend. He was a joy to know, and an inspiration to work with. He lit up every room and was truly larger than life, which makes his loss even harder to bear and more difficult to believe. I am so proud to have known and worked with him for many years. Fintan’s deep commitment to social justice ran through his life, as did his empathy and warmth. He was a gem of a man who had a huge impact upon me as well as many others.
Thank you so much for streaming his funeral online. It has enabled me to join from my home in South Korea. I am sure there are people from all around the world who are remembering Fintan, his life has influenced and inspired so many of us.

Fintan devoted his life to fighting poverty, social exclusion and the establishment of human rights in principle and fact.
He was always courageous, outspoken and not without humour when it was required.
He will be missed by colleagues in Europe and Ireland, especially those in EAPN Europe and by an expectant EAPN Ireland, where he was due to return at this time. Condolences to his family and friends
