I had the pleasure of working with Flan for a long number of years and it was always a pleasure.
He was kind, compassionate and caring to younger members and built a great team around him. He was not alone a highly skilled detective but his work also encompassed housing, welfare, and many other social work areas. The turnout for his funeral and guard of honour showed the respect in which he was held and was testament to the man we were honouring. Some of of the condolences could well be read to students in the Garda College as they epitomise what a good Garda should be. May you Rest in Peace Flan, with your beloved Ann in the heavenly kingdom.

Sincere sympathy to Flan's family and colleagues on his sad passing. We passed through the gates of Templemore Garda College(Training Centre as it was then) on the same date in August 1964. Sadly our contact was limited since. It is comforting for the Wiley family to know the impact he made on so many people on the northside of Cork city. It was with regret and sadness I learned of the sad passing of Flan R.I.P.

Flan was a most engaging, honorable, compassionate, full of kindness and a highly respected member of An Garda Siochana for his common scenic approach in dealing with the the residents of the Shandon / Northside district. I had the pleasure of knowing him for many years while living in Frenches Villas, and working in City Hall.

Sincere sympathy to the Wiley Family on the death of Flan, RIP. I met Flan in Templemore, when we were in the August A Class in 1964, he was good company, and a great character, which continued on in his career, and in St.Paul's Credit Union, as detailed in many references in this Condolence Book. He will be missed.
