So sorry to read the sad news about Florrie in the Southern Star just now. I had the pleasure of meeting him in Denis Lucey’s pub in Bantry some years ago, the pub that my great-grandparents Hannah and Patrick Harrington used to run. Florrie told me stories about himself and my grandad Con’s cousin, John ’Moll’ Harrington. He proceeded to waltz me round the pub to the strains of ‘When You Were Sweet Sixteen’. Once met, Florrie was someone you’d never forget. May he rest in peace.
Our sincere condolences to Helen and all the O'Driscoll family on the sad passing of Florrie. Florrie was a gentleman and always a pleasure to meet over the years. May his gentle soul rest in peace.
Florrie was always great company. He was a good listener, always gave his observations on any world problems that were discussed, and on any personal problems that one might have - and, subsequently, he always made one feel that they (the problems) weren't worth worrying about. He was humble, gentle, kind and non-judgmental. He was just a lovely decent human being and he will be a loss to Bantry town and hinterland. I'm sorry to think that when I visit Bantry he will not be there anymore. His company and his positivity were always treasured by members of my family and lots of their friends. He will be so fondly remembered. To his sister Helen and the extended O'Driscoll family please accept my (and those of the O'Riordan family) sincere condolences on Florrie's passing. May he rest in a beautiful peace.
Sincere sympathy to all of Florrie’s family, neighbours and friends, May his gentle soul rest in peace.

St. Ireneaus, in the first century said “The Glory of God is the human person fully alive.” He could have been describing Florrie O’Driscoll, who most certainly was a such a person, fully alive. Everyone in Bantry was shocked, as he went so suddenly, before us. Florrie was not considered old. He had never grown old. He had a celebratory spirit. He loved life, and lived it to the full, making the world a better place for all of us. Most people would agree that he was a real gentleman. He never had anything negative to say about anyone. It was always a pleasure to meet him. You always went on your way feeling better, he had such a positive approach to life. There was a lovely innocence about him. We are all poorer at his passing. We will miss him so much.
My sympathy and prayers are with Helen and her family, who are still mourning her husband Michael, who passed away just a month ago.
Thanks to live streaming, from Lima, I was able to follow the funeral mass. It was a beautiful celebration of the man, who personified all that is good about Bantry. He was a true Bantry Blue. We loved him dearly. We stand proudly on his shoulders, as we continue on our journey, praying that like Flor, we will do the best we can to make Flor and his values present, as we celebrate the gift of life in our community. We thank God for letting us have Flor for such a long time. Thanks for the memories, Flor! Rest in Peace, until we meet again.

Bantry will be different now . Florrie had such a welcome no matter when you called . He loved his roses and his garden and of course his beautiful home . He would tell me when he went to The Abbey to put Roses on our mother Ella’s grave . He was kind and thoughtful. When I admired his apple trees and I bought 2 in Ballylickey he told me to lay a flat stone and spread out the roots over the stone . I am still awaiting the fine crop he got but maybe next year now . We will never see anyone like Florrie again as he knew so much and was so happy to chat and tell you . My sincere sympathy Helen to you and all the family who gave him so much love and care and fun . And to all his friends who got such memories from being with him .
My sincere condolences to U All May Florrie’s Gentle Soul Rest in Peace

Sorry I couldn’t I make the funeral
due to treacherous weather conditions in Newmarket. Florrie was highly thought of in our home in Adrigole. He was a great friend to my mother (Kathleen O’ Reilly) dealing with the ups & downs of life

I met Flor this time last year in his home when we called in. He was engaged and interested in everything local and in America. We were just out of bed, but he had the lunch on the boil already at 11.30am. A mighty character. My condolences to Helen and the family.
