Aodh - reminds me always on how the struggle for freedom of Ireland and the Philippines are interconnected.
Hé always touches me when he sings that song’ The town I love so well, during the Annual International Meeting (AIM) - Philippine solidarity meeting,
Sometimes, I hear him singing that song.
I have learned a lot from him, his optimism and sense of humor has been a great gift.
Warm greetings,
Minda and Dick

Thank you for informing me of this sad news about Aodh. Since 1985 my involvement with CFMW , still fresh in my memory, is his. dedication to work with migrant workers especially the Filipino migrant workers. Everytime we visit London I always remember his narrative of why CFMW is named - Commission for Filipino Migrant Workers - according to him we are commissioned to work for Filipino migrant workers and such organisation is the catalyst of reaching out to other migrant workers.
Condolence to the family. My big hugs to Margaret.

Aodh, In gratitude for a life of dedicated Columban service and compassion to the migrants of this world.
May there be some beautiful surprise
Waiting for you inside death,
Something you never knew or felt,
which with one simple touch
Absolves you of all loneliness and loss,
As you quicken within the embrace
From which your soul was eternally created.
Flaitheas De duit anois.

How sad we are to hear of Aodh’s death. We have lost a good friend and a great campaigner, a faithful presence on the streets of London challenging injustice, nuclear weapons, the arms trade, and standing up for human rights. We so admired your witness to true gospel values and good sense about the Church. We’ll miss your parties too, Aodh, the laughter and warmth of friendship which gathered wherever you were. Our sympathy to the O’Halpin and Columban families.
From Manila,
Thank you Brid and Nonoi for informing us about the sad news of Aodh's passing. Girlie and I share a deep sense of gratitude for Aodh's life of service, and for the blessing of having known him and worked with him especially among Filipino migrant workers in Europe and the Philippine solidarity movement. We remember the last time we met Aodh in London, where he sang a Filipino song, making us feel his heartfelt solidarity and friendship.
We share your sadness that Aodh's life on this earth has ended, but we give thanks, with you and the people he served, for Aodh's long and meaningful life. Mabuhay ka, Aodh!

Thinking of Aodh’s passing makes my heart feel sad and happy at the same time. Sad, because the solidarity movement lost a highly dedicated and committed comrade, who so well expressed his deep concern for the poor and oppressed through active care and tireless support. But I am also happy that our paths have crossed as we spent meaningful time together in our solidarity work. Yes, we focused our involvement on serious discussions, on planning and organizing activities, but we also gave space for jokes, laughter, songs….well, and one or two drinks. This combination of dedicated work and still leaving space for enjoyment and happiness strengthened our ties of connectedness and friendship.
Fare well, Aodh, and never stop to make others happy in a different world through your stories, songs and laughter.
Your German friend and comrade Erika

RIP Aodh, all the Deeney's will miss you a lot, you were always great fun to be around, from childhood up to adulthood. I have to thank you especially for the lift you gave me from Rathmullan to Letterkenny, I was a teenager, eagerly on my way out to meet my friends and it was the longest lift I ever got but we got there eventually! All very fond memories, so sad to hear you passed away.
Slan is Slainte Fr. Aodh!
It’s been a weekend of tears and laughter…..feeling the pain of deep personal loss and at the same time flooded with wonderful memories – you were always ready to think outside the box and dare impossible things – deeming them alone worth your/our while.
Nonoi and I make a Filipino Irish wake with you today….candles, fond memories, politics, songs and a wee deoch an doras – a parting glass of red wine, lambanog or the old reliable Jameson!
Deep condolence to the O’Halpin family, Columban community, and friends

PAALAM! Fr. Aodh..Condolence to O'halpin family, Columban community and friends
We began working together in 1984 – in the setting up of the International office of the Commission for Filipino Migrant Workers (CFMW). But you and other colleagues started this work in 1979 and you and Sr. Margaret Healy had initiated the London work of CFMW. It was indeed pioneering work – and achieved hard-won victories with the Campaign for the Rights of the Undocumented Migrant Domestic Workers (Waling Waling). You were also tireless in supporting the London Session of the Permanent Peoples Tribunal on the RIghts of Migrant and Refugee people (2018). These of course are just a few highlights. We will always celebrate your unshakeable confidence in the ‘masa’ and their political capacity; your internationalism and solidarity; your inspiring vision and work for justice; your ecumenical spiritualty giving consolation in times of loss and grief; your determination as well as celebration of the struggle; and that infectious humour that brightened all our days - and the songs that still inspire us all.
I know that we speak for so many people across the transnational migrant community and solidarity networks who join us in saying : You will live forever in our hearts! AODH , PRESENTE!!

It is with great sadness that we learned of the passing of Fr Aodh. We were neighbours of the O’Halpins from when we moved to Glencar in the mid-1960s although our families go further back. Indeed, we were honoured that Fr Aodh did the blessing of our new family home. He will be missed, a great man and a champion priest.

My deepest condolences to Mary (Canada) and to Seosamh (London) on the death of Fr. Aodh. He was a lovely man and a caring pastor to his people in the Philippines and in recent years champion of the marginalized in London. He loved his breaks home and his visits to old school and family friends. Rest in Peace now, Fr. Aodh in the company of the Lord you served so well.

Rest in peace - Ruhe in Frieden, Aodh! Condolences to his family and all friends from a friend in Germany.
Aodh was the person who got me involved in the struggle for the protection of human rights in the Philippines. He taught me so much, and I will be forever grateful to him for the enrichment which that involvement brought to my life.
So sad, we wish people could be eternal - I believe the singing voice of fr Aodh will be continue singing, in form of a lovely bird for us all.

Aodh showed me that to be radical is also to be deeply kind and funny. To know when to sing and when to speak truth to power – and when to snigger. To hold the balance between the personal, the political and the spiritual. To keep a bottle of whisky in the bottom drawer of the filing cabinet.
A life lived deeply and well is a gift to all of us.
And I thank you very much Mr Eastwood.
From the bottom of my heart.
