So sorry to hear of Fr Bren O’Reilly’s passing. He taught me religion in Terenure College in the 1970s and was creative in his methods. But what intrigued us more was his “missionary” trips to the US during summer holidays. I recall mentioning of California, Harvey Davidson’s and T Shirts as he freewheeled his way through the State! What a special man and a “cool” guy. May he rest in peace. Donal Keane (class of 1975).

I offer my deepest condolences to the O’Reilly family on the sad passing of Father Brendan. He was my English and Religion teacher in Terenure College during the early 1970’s, where without doubt Brendan was truly one of a kind amongst the community and staff. Pupils addressed him with respect and affectionally by his nickname, Moses. The inspiration he provided to those he taught was immense, it instilled the importance of having respect and love for others. I'm most fortunate to have been a pupil of Brendan’s. Sincere condolences to the O’Reilly family. I feel privileged to have had Fr. O’Reilly as a teacher when I attended Terenure College in the early 70’s. He was a caring, articulate individual and a humane and inspirational teacher who instilled a love of life and literature to all who were fortunate to have been his pupils. He had a unique talent for making learning a joyful experience and will be remembered with great affection by all his former students.
My sincere sympathies to the O'Reilly family and the Carmelite community on the passing of Fr Brendan. I was fortunate to be in his English class in the latter part of the seventies in Terenure College. He was a gifted teacher who inspired us to have faith in the Lord but also to have faith in ourselves and what we could achieve.

So sad to learn of Fr.Brendan's passing.
His great spirit & strength was always evident in what he did, both inside & outside the Church. A great priest here in Beaumont who readily made himself available to all. An admirable & strong cyclists too, who on many of our cycling tours pushed on, raising our drooping spirits both between the good & the bad pedal pushing.
We all will truly & badly miss a good & real friend.
Rest in peace, Brendan in the care of Mary & Jesus.

Fr O'Reilly was such an open and positive man, had a deep influence on me and i think all of our class, mid 70's religion class in his room under poster of easy rider and to the sound of neil diamond...working out beliefs, morals, right and wrong. Way ahead of his time and a special gentle lovely man. Rest in Peace
May Fr. Bernard now rest in the loving arms of our God for eternity.
My prayers continue for his family,
may you find comfort and peace especially during this difficult time of deep loss. May the gift of memories turn your grief into joy.

So sorry to hear of Fr.Brendan's passing. Brendan was a lovely, kind and caring person. His enthusiasm and zest for life was infectious . I have so many fond memories of Brendan.l remember the day Pele came to Terenure College and Brendan was so delighted when Pele insisted on visiting and praying in the College Chapel He also had novel methods of encouraging people to wear the scapular. Brendan's role as gamesmaster improved rugby structures and his inspirational and innovative training with the under 13s certainly contributed to so many cup successes in the late 70s and early 80s. Rest in peace Brendan.
