I was very sad to hear of the recent sad passing of Fr.Cathal Cumiskey CSsR.to his heavenly reward.

Fr Cathal endeared himself as a wonderful Redemptorist Priest & friend to so many by his gentle, kind and saintly nature.

Since first meeting Cathal in 1974 -I was then a student Teacher in Mary Immaculate TC-he has been a presence and long time friend in my life and that of my family up to the present.We will not forget his regular visits to Kinnnitty,Offaly en route from Dundalk to places such as Kinsale,Limerick,Templeglantine and Banagher It was always a joy to see him visit and spend some time in his saintly presence.We will be keeping you in 🙏 prayerful thoughts always.

I am sorry to hear Fr Cumiskey has died, but delighted that he got to such a great age and was therefore able to share his wisdom and spirit with so many. He was a lovely, kind, gentle man who genuinely cared for all the boys in St Clement’s, which must have numbered thousands over the years he was there. I have known Fr. Cumiskey my whole life, having grown up in Meadow Grove beside the church. He was the definition of good, and showed nothing but kindness to me and my family in all the years we have known him. He was part of our wedding and true to form his kindness then extended then to my own children and husband too.
He will be dearly missed by us all. May he rest in eternal peace xx
