Fr. Colm O'Mahony O.S.A

We are saddened beyond any way words could express. Father Colm will be missed not only by those in the Congregation at the Augustinian but by everyone in the town to whom he would greet courteously and respectfully and with whom he would unfailingly share his most infectious smile. As a family we are all struggling to come to terms with this terrible news which emerged yesterday so we can only imagine the grief his family must be feeling. Generosity and compassion were Fr. Colm’s middle names. He never turned away anyone who came to his door looking for help. Class distinction didn’t exist in Fr. Colm’s book, he loved and cared for everyone. He was always unfailingly kind and understanding towards everyone he met. For this to happen at Easter Week must be so very traumatic for the other Friars who will be struggling to cope with all the programmes this week, hearing confessions etc. and I pray that they will receive every support they will need from the Order and I have no doubt that that support will be extended to them. Rest in Peace Fr. Colm, you will be missed not just in the short term but always for the wonderful Priest you were and the humanity you extended to all who you encountered.

We pray especially and very earnestly for Fr. Colm’s family at their time of unimaginable sorrow.

Eternal Rest give unto him O Lord and let perpetual light shine upon him. May he rest in peace. Amen 🙏🏻

Colm was the kindest person I knew. Always smiling, always wise and sharp wit Gone too soon. He made our time in UCC in the 90s.
