Fr. Con Murphy SMA

Sincere sympathy to the family of Fr Con and to all his SMA confreres.
It was a big shock, hearing of the death of Fr Con. I first met him in 1981 and we kept in touch.
He was very loyal to and appreciative of his SMA colleagues. On all our meetings, he would talk about my deceased SMA relatives and remind me of their work on the missions. It was a huge privilege to have known him, a truly outstanding human being.
May, Fr Con, rest in peace.

Sincere sympathy to Sr Immaculata, Siobhán, Bríd, Michael and the extended Murphy family on the loss of Father Con. I knew him through my father Denis. Father Con was a lovely, kind, thoughtful man and a true gentleman who did so much for others throughout his life. May he rest in peace.

Lovely memories of his visits to my mother in Castletownroche, and the history of Kilmichael being discussed. Oh how sad Fr Con has dead and buried! I knew him from S M A Formation house Lang'ata Kenya. He was a true man of God full of empathy. He used to support me in every way especially paying school fees for my children. This man of God brought me from far. I remember one time l was all most sleep outside with my children for my landlord locked my small room due to Sh 30,000 house rent arrears, I informed Fr Con and without wasting time he cleared with the landlord and l was free. Also never slept hungry or thirsty with my children when Fr Con was here in the country. He was really a blessing priest not only to me but to so many poor individuals here in Kenya. We had been communicating and he had been telling me he is sick. I kept on praying for his healing without knowing that God had different plain. Family and friends, courage! Here is not a leaving home but the leaving home is heaven. I know you did tried your best to safe his life but you could not stop him from going back to where he come from. What you can only do now is to release him to rest in peace also for you to heal faster. Rest in peace Fr Con. In heaven we shall meet.

Sincere Condolences to Sister Immaculata on the Passing of Fr Con.
Knew Fr Connie and the late Liam well over the years through their interest in supporting Kilmichael Teams down the years. They were both Legends of the Parish along with others in the 50s and 60s. Had many pleasant reunions with them all over the years. While they life's journey took all the Murphys further afield, they never left the Parish mentally.

In Con's eyes the difference of social position, of intellect, of culture, which different people exhibit, and on which they so fantastically pin their pride, was so small as practically to vanish. For him, as I knew him, all that remained was the common fact that here we are each of us penned into peculiar difficulties, with which we must struggle, by using whatever fortitude and goodness we can summon up. He was more lovingly aware than most of the depths of worth that lay hidden in each person’s life. In my hour of darkness he was God's invincible summer. With eternal gratitude.

The message above was sent by one of Fr.Con's parishioners in Embulbul, Kenya. I suspect there were many such acts of kindness in Kenya, Nigeria and South Africa. May his gentle soul rest in peace. Sending sincere sympathy on the passing of Fr. Con. I had the pleasure of meeting him twice. The first time was at my baptism in 1971. The second was in Ireland 45 years later. I have since treasured that reunion... a special day for sure. Fr. Con, RIP.

He officiated at my sister’s Deanna’s profession in the OLAs. I extend the sympathy of the Donohue family to all the Murphy family and to all his conferees in the Society of African Missions.

I was sad to hear of the death of Fr. Con. We were in neighbouring parishes in Kenya and he was always very welcoming, kind and a wise advisor. Sincere sympathies to his family and the SMA community. We are in shock here on Blackrock Road; Con's Passing was so sudden! I visited him in Dedham Mass in 1971. He was preoccupied with Finals at Boston College, but true to the man Con found the time to accompany me to Cape Cod and Martha's Vineyard. As sure as there's a heaven Fr Con Murphy sma is there today. He was, and is, the very best. RIP
