I was so sorry to hear of David’s death belatedly. Right from the time we were little nippers playing “up the knock” above the Dunmore Road, he was so gentle, thoughtful of others, kind to all and remained constant that way into adulthood, a true gentleman and a wonderful priest… rip gentle soul. My sincere sympathy to Janet, my classmate, and all of the Keating family on your great loss.
I have only just learned of David’s Passing as I was away ,I had worked in a shop for many years where I would meet David ,and all I can say is it was a pleasure to have known you ,you were a kind friendly lovely human being , you used to complement us on how we treated people, but if you only knew your kind words and chats were what gave us a boost on hard days ,and anytime you were in we used to say when you left “isn’t he lovely “ ,I hope this brings comfort to your family and friends ,and that they remember, that to strangers you made someone’s day go a bit Better

I was deeply saddened to learn of the sudden passing of David. He was a lovely man and I have great memories of our many interactions. You will find it hard to find a more kind and pleasant man. Condolences to all family and friends. May David rest in eternal peace.

Rest in peace, Fr. David. A true gentleman whose kindness, wisdom, and grace touched everyone at SETU/WIT. He will be deeply and dearly missed.
So very sorry to hear of Fr. David’s passing, sincerest condolences to his family and all who knew and loved him, you are in my thoughts and prayers at this sad and difficult time. Like many, forever grateful for Fr. David’s unassuming presence and support at times when it mattered most, and always, thank you. May Fr. David now rest in eternal peace.
My deepest sympathies to David’s mother, brother, sisters, and extended family. I am thinking of you all at this sad and difficult time.
David was someone who made our university feel like a true community. He had an incredible ability to make people feel seen, heard, and supported, and he created a caring environment for staff and students across WIT/SETU.
His impact on student life is something I will never forget. So many of the memories that shaped our university experience were made brighter because of him. I’ll always remember the passion and excitement he brought to creating the WIT Factor singing competition. It wasn’t just an event to him, it was a way to bring students together, to celebrate their talents, and to help raise money for local charities.
On a personal note, I learned so much from David. Working with him showed me the real power of simply listening, of showing compassion, and of being present for someone who needs your support.
David leaves behind a legacy built on kindness, generosity, and genuine humanity. It was a privilege to know him, and I’m grateful for every conversation, every laugh, and every moment of guidance he shared.
Thank you, David, for everything you did for all of us in the WIT/SETU community. You will be deeply missed, and we will carry your spirit forward in the work we do every day. May he rest in peace.

I did not know Fr. David but I had the privilege of encountering him last year in his Ministry to the sick and dying. He was truly a remarkable priest -a man apart- kind, deeply spiritual, generous, compassionate, unafraid, good humoured, sincere.
He gave and did not count the cost. Such was the nature of his calling to minister to those in need I don’t think he would know how to count the cost. That is not a metric he embraced. He simply gave.
I remember him with deep gratitude and extend my most heartfelt sympathy to his family and to all who knew and loved him.
Rest in Peace Fr. David.

We are heartbroken by the loss of our good friend David, who was the human face of the Church to so many people in the city and the university.
David was always in tune with the collective feeling in the workplace both in good times and when we struggled. He was our anchor in times of need.
We are bereft by his loss however it can only be a fraction of the loss felt by his loving family. We are thinking of his Mum, siblings, nieces and nephews at this terribly difficult time.
We will forever remember our good friend David.

"Make me a channel of Your peace,
Where there is hatred let me bring Your love,
Where there is injury, Your pardon, Lord
And where there's doubt, true faith in You.
Oh, Master, grant that I may never seek,
So much to be consoled as to console,
To be understood as to understand,
To be loved as to love with all my soul.
Make me a channel of Your peace,
Where there's despair in life let me bring hope.
Where there is darkness, only light
And where there's sadness, ever joy.
Make me a channel of Your peace,
It is in pardoning that we are pardoned.
In giving to all men that we receive,
And in dying that we're born to eternal life"
