I was very saddened to hear of the tragic death of Declan. I studied with Declan in Clonliffe, and bumped into him over the years. He was a very kind gentle soul, with a calm voice which he used to great effect in his ministry. May he rest in Peace.
Such sad news and a great loss to the community of kilbarrack R.I.P Fr Declan
As a regular guest in our home, we will remember Declan with great fondness.
One of our most abiding memories will be the Christmas he stepped out on the Altar; and much to the amusement of all, he received a call from Santa Claus. Santa had a powerful message for us all, and who better to relay that message than Declan. Such was its impact, that the memory of that wonderful Christmas Mass will be ingrained in all our hearts forevermore.
It is so difficult to comprehend attending the funeral of the very man we expect to be there , to comfort us, and to see us through such terrible times; but somehow, I know, that you Declan, will be watching over us all from above.
Friendships don't die with death, they merely move to a greater level.
One day we will meet again - Beyond the Milky Way.
In the meantime, you will forever in our prayers.

I only met Declan once when he came to England to marry his nephew Gary to my sister Lesley in 1992, but you could not help but be affected by his gentle and warm demeanour. My heart and prayers go out to his family and freinds, and may Declan find peace with his Father.
I was in Lourdes with Fr Declan in the 1970's with CLM before he a priest. He was such a warm caring man . We were caring for sick and he had a great sense of humour. I was shocked when our priest read out Fr Declan's death at mass on Sunday. Heaven is a better place but also our great loss. My mother died on 14 th February six years ago.
Fr. Declan will always be remembered as a great storyteller with a fantastic sense of humour. He used both talents very well in getting his point across in mass. He’ll be sadly missed. Such a sweetheart.
I was saddened by the news of the passing of Declan. He was a good man who truly believed in what he preached. he believed in a Church where "All are welcomed". May he rest in peace and rise in glory.
May Declan be surprised by the warmth of the divine embrace. Peace at last.
I am extremely saddened and shocked by the death of Fr. Declan. He was such a kind man and will be sorely missed. Rest in peace Fr. Declan. My condolences to all of Fr. Declan's family and friends.
My family were all shocked to hear of Fr Declan's passing last week. He was such a lovely man, having supported us in our saddest times (loss of my father) and happiest times (my marriage, and later the christening of our two children) over the past 5 years. It will be hard to imagine the church without his presence.
My condolences to all his family.
My condolences to all his family.
The Airport Church was our family place of prayer because Declan, my late brother attended there when he worked in the Airport and also because of Fr. Declan and his influence. He baptised our two children there and his sermons were both an inspiration and a challenge. I remember particularly his Christmas conversations with Santa on his mobile phone from the altar assuring one and all their surprises were on the way and the huge quantity of chocolate Easter eggs for the 'children'. He was a great man and a true preacher and will always be remembered by our family. RIP.
I was very shocked to hear last night of Fr Declan's untimely death. My family knew him for over 30 years from when he was a young curate in St Andrew's Westland Row. He was always caring and good humoured no matter when you met him. His loss will be greatly felt by his family and his community. Good bye Declan.
Fr Declans kindness & caring to me during my own troubles will always be remembered.May he rest in peace.

I am very sad to hear the news. Unfortunately I am away and only found out today. Fr Declan will always be remembered by myself and family for his devoted attention to my mother Maria during her long illness and final days. He was a true gentleman and will get his rewards in Heaven.
