You know how much you ment to us and how much we miss you.
You were always with us and always new what to say and how to wind me up which you done with such ease and with some help from others..
Each time we would be going on a journey which you were not accompanying us, the words you use to say was in the name of God have safe journey and i'll see you both later.
I will now say to you what you would always say to us, it was never goodbye but in the name of god have safe journey and we will See you later.

My deepest condolences on the passing of Father Denis. He was a gentle kind hearted man whom I have very fond memories of. My sister often tells of his love for the lamb that was served at my sister Deirdre's wedding in 2002 and my gratitude to him when he asked to help in reading at mass in my teens which helped my self-esteem greatly. May he rest in peace.

It is with great sadness I head today of Fr. Murphy’s death, May he rest in peace in his heavenly home. May God comfort and console his family and community at this sad time. Out of the parish for many years I met him when he buried my mother and Father many years ago. They thought the world of him, a Saint my mother said many times. I found him to be caring and kind and a wonderful priest, A big loss to the parish but a wonderful soul in heaven. Amen

My deepest heartfelt condolences to the family of Fr. Murphy.

From the first mass I attended that he celebrated in Mayo to the final weeks he was fit to give us, he gave us his full heart and his kindness reached into every heart and home across the parish.

A great man of faith, his love for St. Paul and he shared a great likeness to him for us all. He spread the teachings of Jesus, patron saint of missionaries, writers and authors.

He lived out his mission with compassion and love and will always be remembered for his delievery in a compact and direct one liner way.

I feel we have all lost a dear friend but we are blessed to have him closer to God to put in a good word as we pray for all our intentions.

Eternal rest, Fr. You were a just and true servant to God and his people.

I was involved with him on fundraising draws back around 1987/1988, and he was a really nice and kind person to work with. We are saddened with the news that Fr Denis Murphy, chaplain to our school, Chairperson of our Board of Management, and Parish Priest of Mayo and Doonane, has passed away peacefully. Fr. Denis was as loved by the school community as he was loved by the community in general. And he cherished our school, and the other parish schools, in return. Pre-Covid, there wasn’t a week that would pass by without Fr. Denis calling to the school to ask if anything needed to be done, to inquire if his assistance was needed in any way, or to give advice on school issues or policies. With that out of the way, the conversation could move to other important issues such as Kilkenny hurling or gentle ribbing about Laois football! Fr. Denis could hold court on any topic and he remembered personal things about people that made them feel valued, having a way about him that drew everybody in, and a kind word and a smile for all. Any request ever asked of him by the school was agreed to without hesitation and above all, he wanted to know if the children were happy. And for over a quarter of a century our school and the Crettyard community were happy that Fr. Denis was ours, with so many of the locality and beyond having received their sacraments under his guidance. His illness was courageously borne and he remained dignified and humble until the end. Our thoughts are now with Fr Denis, his family, and all who knew and loved him.
