So sad to belatedly hear of Fr. Eddie's passing. 60 years ago I married my wife Rita on the day that Eddie said his first Mass in St. Joseph's, Berkeley Road, just across the road from his home and from the Mater Hospital where we served together as altar boys under the watchful eye of Sr. Damien. Our Mass was usually on the 6.30am 'shift'! Fellow altar servers were Johnny Downes, Fran Byrne, and Jimmy Stanley. On Eddie's advice we also shared the front bench in class in Plás Muire as he said the Brother only watched the guys at the back! He was a credit to the priesthood and will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Ar dheis Dé a bheidh a anam dílis. RIP.
Deepest condolences on the passing of Fr Eddie. He married us in September 2000 in Enniskerry when based at St Monica’s Raheny (we were living abroad by then). We have lovely memories of our interactions and debates with him at the time and we have fond memories of Meeting him Over the years too. May you rest in peace now Father. Xx
We extend our sincere condolences to Fr Eddie’s family, friends & colleagues in his ministries. Tá oidhreacht shaibhir fágtha ina dhiaidh ag an Athair Eddie. Bhí an t-ádh linn aithne a chur air. Duine croíúl, lách, cineálta a chabhraigh go mór na sacraimintí a bhronnadh ar pháistí na scoileanna lánghaelacha i mBré. Ní dhéanfar dearmad ar gach a rinne sé.

Bhí aithne agam ar an Athair Eddie nuair a bhí sé anseo i dTeach na Giúise. I mo thuairimse chleachtaigh sé tréithe neimhe nuair a bhí sé fós sa saol seo: é géarchúiseach faoi na dea thréithe a d'aimsigh sé i ndaoine agus ag árdú a misnigh dá bharr. Leathnaigh sé lúcháir an Spioraid Naoimh. Tá a anam naofa fós ag guí ar ár son.

Sorry to hear of Fr Eddie's passing. He was a wonderful priest and worker in St Monica's parish, Edenmore. We will remember him with the fondest of memories.
Fr Eddie was a truly wonderful priest. During Covid being able to watch him celebrate the 9.30 Mass via the internet was the highlight of my week. He was a wise, kind, humble, compassionate, and Spirit-filled man, who often spoke of the love he had for his own family. He served God and the community so very well, and we could never thank him enough.
All of us here in St. Peter's Parish are feeling the loss of a truly wonderful priest and friend. Our lives have been enriched by his coming to live among us. Fr. Eddie was a very compassionate man who never judged and always left you with a smile on you face. His Mass in Irish at 9.30 on a Sunday was a chance to hear his wise words and he shared his faith in God which was so deep with us. Mass always ended with a humourous saying or a little joke. We are all better people for having known you Fr. Eddie. It was a great privilige to have worked with you. Rest in peace now with your beloved parents and Margaret, safe in the arms of Jesus.

Fr Eddie Griffin was one of the most beautiful priests we had the pleasure of having during his appointment in Holy Cross parish Dundrum. He brought joy and happiness to his ministry. He was greatly loved and appreciated in Dundrum. We were all very sad when he was given a new appointment but from reading the lovely condolences he continued on in the same style in his next appointment. I remember that he always held a small crucifix in his hands while hearing confession. He had the most gentle and kind soul. There was always a cue for Fr Eddie on a Saturday. So lovely to see all the tributes as Gaeilge to Eddie. The last time I met him was a few years ago in Dunnes Stores in Cornelscourt. He still had time for a chat. Sincere sympathy to his family on a huge loss.
R.I.P Fr.Eddie, you certainly gave the congregation a few laughs during your sermons, very witty and very devoted.
