So sorry to hear of Fr Frank's passing. He was a great family friend. Our boys, Paul & Bryan have great memories of him when they served as mass servers in the Church of the Assumption Tullamore. His kindness was exemplary.
Deepest sympathy to the MacNamara family on their great loss.
May his gentle soul rest in peace.

I went to Finians as a boarder in 1963. In an era of corporal punishment it was a tough place. But, in it, was the oasis of Fr. McNamara, whom I was lucky to encounter when I took music for an extra subject. I was mediocre at the piano and, I think, because of that, Fr. Frank ended a huge amount of lessons with fabulous performances on the piano(all time off ordinary class-I couldn't believe my luck!) I learned to read music and at the ripe young age of 65 joined a classical multinational Choir-part of his massive legacy! He managed to be part of the staff, and still, when on a walk with other priests on the school grounds would turn his head, and acknowledged with a smile, the miserable! students as he passed them by. I was lucky to be involve in 4 musicals, another oasis in the tough regime of the boarding school. He was most welcoming on a visit in the mid 1970s and regret that i never made contact after. A totally positive experience in my life. to all who knew him well , my sympathies
I have fond memories of being taught the intricacies of sonata form, falsetto, reprises and a multitude of other musical concepts which have enriched by living. May Fr. Frank rest in peace.

Fr. Frank was an immensely positive influence on me as I grew up in the Schola...I remember his unwavering kindness, decency, encouragement and pearls of wisdom...a shining light in a sometimes unkind environment, he always looked out for his students and he taught me that gentle compassion and caring helps others to grow.

Sincere Sympathy to Fr Frank's family and friends. I never had the dulcit tones to make it to the cast of any of his memorable productions in the "Gym" such as The Mikado, HMS Pinafore or Concerts backboned by Schola Cantorum studens. A lovely person to be around and a model for any aspiring cleric or teacher. Rest in Peace Frank along with your brother Willie who taught me geography 71-76.

Rest in peace fr frank.god bless pray for me fr.
Fr. Frank's passing for me is a moment of great sadness: he was one of those people you encounter in life who irrevocably change you by giving of their knowledge and support. As a young lad from Mayo I could never have hoped to aquire so much musical education at home. He was one of those rarest of pedagogues-a teacher without an overweaning ego- his only interest was the musical edification of our lives, and the result is that he truly gave me a gift that keeps on giving of pleasure and joy.He was enormously.kind to me and my late parents, and I will forever hold his memory very dear.

Having watched his funeral Mass online and attended the removal service in person, I know how much Fr Frank would have loved the excellent music on both occasions. Fine verbal tributes from both bishops were richly deserved, but music was his passion. He was gifted in all aspects of it, but humble in equal measure. A lifelong family friend, I knew him well as both a caring teacher (who never raised his voice, never mind his hand) and a caring pastor (with music still never far from his mind in both his parishes). I would struggle to name a nicer all-round priest, and I've met hundreds of them. Indeed, I would struggle to name a nicer all-round human being, and I've met thousands of them. I'm glad I called to see him in St Mary's a few months ago, but relieved his pain is now over. May he rest in peace.

Fr Frank was an excellent teacher. His direction of the Schola Cantorum greatly improved the standard of church music in Ireland.
But, more than that, he was a good friend and mentor. He was very good to me, my parents and my sister, Mary. I will always remember his kindness.
May he be greeted by the following words: "Well done, good and faithful servant. Enter into the joy of Your master".
Go bhfeice sé solas na bhflaitheas agus go gcloise sé glóire na n-aingeal.

Celebrating the incredible life of Fr. Frank and sharing in your grief as a family as we say thank you to an amazing human being.
It is no coincidence that so many St. Finians lads remember Fr. Frank for the caring, humble man and priest that he was. Decent to the core - he was just one of a kind.
His gentleness and genuine interest in how we were getting on mattered to us very much as young boys away from home in an otherwise sometimes tough and dreary place. Not to mention the patience he had to somehow successfully drag class after class of tone deaf lads through inter cert music!
“I shall pass this way but once; any good that I can do or any kindness I can show to any human being; let me do it now. Let me not defer nor neglect it, for I shall not pass this way again.”
Rest in Peace, Fr Frank.

I got to know Frank through Ronan. A most genial man. I even got to wear his clerical clothing in a Trim drama production but I never quite made it to the priesthood! I extend my deepest sympathy to the MacNamara family on their sad loss. May Frank now rest in peace.
Rest in peace Fr Frank condolences to all the family
To Ronan and the extended McNamara family.
It is with sadness that I learned of Fr.Frank’s passing. A very talented teacher who showed great compassion to those of us that were fortunate enough to have been his pupils.
The fact that I still can’t sing is through no fault of his.
Rest in peace Fr Frank.
