My sincere sympathies to Fr. Gerry's family and the Franciscan community on the death of Fr. Gerry. He was indeed a noble and generous servant of God. I have very happy memories of his visits here to Kilkee when he came back to Ireland on holiday. A few years ago he very generously stepped in to assist in the parish when I received an injury which saw me having to rest up for a period. Again, it was great to meet up with him on this last visit which I think was 2 years ago. His gentle kindness and deep faith were blessings for all who encountered him.
We have prayed for the repose of his soul here in Kilkee at the weekend and will offer Mass for him in Kilkee Church this coming Sunday - 4th July at 9.00 a.m. May he enjoy the reward of his goodness with the angels and saints in the presence of the God he loved and served.

I heard with deep sadness of the loss of your brother, Fr. Gerry. I offer my deepest sympathy and hope that, with the support of family and friends, you will get through this difficult time, come to terms with the loss and be able to celebrate and commemorate Fr. Gerry's long life helping the poorest of the poor.

Growing up in Farranshone, we were near neighbours and also proud families to have a priest in the family .I remember Fr. Gerard visiting the house on his trips home and his gentle manner and humour , may he RIP.

Noreen and the McInerney family are very saddened at the death of Fr Gerard. I looked forward so much to his visits home, bringing us much joy and hope. Our sincere sympathies to dear Miriam, Willie, Dermot, and Noel. Gerard is so sure of his place in heaven with all our dear holy souls.

I was sorry to hear of the passing of Fr. Gerry. I met him when we were pilgrims together in the Holy land. He was a lovely person and I really enjoyed his company. We connected over a love of God and both being lawyers, him Canon and I Common.
When we were all going our separate ways in Dublin Airport at the end of the pilgrimage I remember him saying to me, "I'll see you in heaven", it stayed with me as it knew it to be true. Although I only knew him for that one week Gerry has been in my prayers ever since. Until we meet in heaven. I offer my sincerest condolences to the loved ones that he has left behind, the O'Reilly family, his Brothers and Parishioners in South Africa.
