Sincere condolences to Nora, Eileen, Teresa, and all the Collins family on the passing of Fr. John. Also to his Society family in Kiltegan. I have fond memories of him when we were students at the Franciscan Monastery school in Kilkerrin. I also met him many times when he was farming along the years. We would get together also, when he was home from his missionary work in Nigeria. A lovely and holy man, may his dear soul rest in peace.

Sincere sympathies to the Collins & Pettit families on the sudden passing of Father John. Condolences also to Fr. Tommy, his brother priests as well as extended family neighbours and friends. We enjoyed the pleasure of his company in Medjugorge for 2 trips. I remember the pride he brought to the parish and no doubt his family at the homecoming after ordination in the early 70’s. May Fr. John rest in eternal peace and enjoy the reward he has well earned from his years of ministry.

I'd like to extend my deepest sympathies to the Collins family and the Kiltegan SPS family on the death of Fr John. I had the privilege of spending a year (our Spiritual year) with John in Kiltegan in 1969/70. He not alone espoused the values of a good Christian but lived them to the full throughout his life. I have memories of my late parents being invited to his ordination and the big welcome he got afterwards when he returned to Kilkerrin to celebrate mass. It was a great occasion for the parish. I am sure Joe was waiting for him when he arrived at the Gates of Heaven.

My deepest sympathy to Eileen, Margaret, Nora, Joanne, Maureen and their families on the sad death of Fr. John. He was a lovely man , always friendly and interested in keeping in touch with local people when he returned from his missionary work. My earliest memories of John are from his farming days,when he was the person who arrived at our farm with a horsedrawn spraying machine to spray the emerging potato crop to prevent the dreaded 'blight.' It was a job which allowed lots of time for solitude and contemplation and it may well have been the inspiration for his decision to follow a higher calling. I had the honour of attending his ordination in Kiltegan and am so disappointed that I cannot be present for his funeral Mass, but expect to join the funeral liturgy online. May Fr. John rest in peace in the company of his parents and recently deceased brother Joe.
