Saddened to learn about the death of Fr John. We had the privilege to work with Fr John in June this year when he accompanied one of our London based pilgrimage groups as Spiritual Director on his first pilgrimage to Fatima. A humble, joyous and kind gentleman; his friendship, humour, patience and pastoral care were hugely valued by all the pilgrims. May he rest in eternal peace. You first introduced his missions to us in the SHS when I was in 1st year (c1976). Never forgot how you spoke so proudly of his good work in Africa. May his lovely soul rest in peace. Ar dhéis Dé go raibh a anam.

Fr John Gary was a wonderful man, one of my favourite priests, whenever he came to Molesey we would go and see him and talk to him. He will be very much missed and we pray for his soul.

I watched online this morning here in Canada the very moving ceremony in St. Patrick's Chapel in Kiltegan. It was a fitting tribute to a truly wonderful person, Fr. John Garry.

It was a real shock when Eithne phoned home and told me of John's passing. It was a great privilege for me to have known John for so many years.

John enjoyed his regular visits to us here in Brockville, Ontario and loved his very early morning walks into town along by the mighty St. Lawrence River.

Our children were all very fond and proud of their uncle John and he of course was so kind and understanding in all his interactions with them. They also shared many a hearty laugh together.

John will be much missed, especially by you his loving sisters, Marguerite, Myra, Nancy, Eithne, Josephine and your families. Thinking of you all in this very sad time.

I don't know how to begin to express my profound sorrow. Father John was a very special person. He was truly God's emissary, he prayed with me when I was going through grief in losing my mother, my brothers in death and comforted me. The last time I saw him was in April this year when he spent a day praying with me, my sister and cousin at the Lady of Knock. I shall be forever grateful to him and to God for letting me share his blessed life. I'm honoured to have him as a friend and privileged to have him as my spiritual guide. I shall miss his divine wisdom, Rest in Peace my lovely friend. God will keep you in His loving embrace 🙏 ❤️ ✨️

Eithne, Josephine, Nancy, Marguerite snd Myra..once again sincere sympathy on Fr John’s sudden death. His funeral mass and your lovely eulogy Marguerite was a fitting tribute to a wonderful man who spent his life serving in the 3rd World. May Fr John’s gentle soul rest in eternal peace.
