Fr. John Hennebry O.S.A.

I only heard about John's passing in the last few days. I got to know him during his time as Augustinian Provincial. He was a pleasure to deal with, and one could only admire his deep commitment to his work and life as an Augustinian Priest.
May he rest in eternal peace

Bríd and Family, tá brón orm. I am truly sorry to read of John’s passing. It is many years since he and I catered for a group of young Ballybodeners under the auspices of my uncle, Paddy Ryan (OSA). John was funny, committed and so caring of everyone. Thinking of you all at this sad time. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam dílis.

Very shocked and sad to hear of Fr. John's passing. I worked in the archives in Ballyboden and engaged with Fr. John regularily. He was a gentleman. May he rest in peace.

I attended Good Counsel for 2 years from 1995-1997 as a boarder. Fr John was over the house. I remember him letting us watch Fr Ted. He was an absolute gent. A genuinely kind hearted person with a great sense of humour. May he Rest In Peace.

First Met John and his family when they ran the shop in Barrack Street Waterford and then Tramore. Met him occasionally down through the years after that always gentle and kind . He will be sorely missed by his dear family, his Augustinian confreres, his teaching colleagues in New Ross and so many friends.
May his gentle soul rest in eternal peace RIP.

A lovely guy. So sorry to hear he died so young. He gave great sermons. I particularly remember one he gave a long long time ago on acceptance and accepting the way we are.

So sorry to hear of Fr John’s passing. I have fond memories of Fr John from growing up in Tramore, and then we were so fortunate that he was the celebrant at our wedding in 2000. His warmth and kind nature were a very special part of the day, as it was for so many others over the years. Our deepest sympathy to Fr John’s family and friends.

You and he were always so close when we "soldiered" together in St.Pats all those years ago, my abiding memory of John was his kindness, his caring ways, his ability to make time for everyone .... always ....and that wonderful sense of humour.

The Augustinian order were blessed to have had such a special man in their midst, the impact he had on so many young lives in his own short life tells its own story.....thank God for him and all he accomplished in his gentle, and unassuming way while on this Earth.

We have lovely memories of time spent with John particularly on the occasion of our 25th wedding anniversary in Rome. We were with Sean & Therese McCormaic - also celebrating their 25th wedding anniversary. John organised a special Mass for us. He was a wonderful guide, as well as being great company and great fun on our trip. May he rest in peace.
