John has been remembered in the Mass and also at the time of the Month!s Mind. Fond memories from years back, too, of his father and mother and McLaughlin's Chemist on Fitzmaurice Road. I was very sad to learn of Fr, John's death in recent days. John and I worked together in the parish of San Columbano in Santiago, Chile in the 1990's. I will always cherish his gentleness and goodness. He was a man of deep and quiet faith with wide intellectual interests. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam dílis.

My sympathy to all Fr. John's family, especially to Tony and Mary, and to the wider Columban family.

Deepest sympathies to Tony on John's death which I saw in The Irish Times. John was a curate in Glasnevin early in his career and he was remembered at Mass in Our Lady of Dolours this morning and Mass will also be celebrated for him in Glasnevin during the coming week also.
