Sincere sympathy to Peg, Barry, all the Flynn family & the Kiltegan family on the passing of dear Fr.Joe. Such a kind & gentle person who had a special way of bringing people together in all sorts of different ways in a common bond of friendship & love. Tarmon was united every time he came home with fund raising dances in Creevelea Hall & in the walks on the Top Road & to the Mass rock. The sing songs & his version of Deportees- which he sang for me & his Kiltegan family not so long ago. He was a dear friend to my dear mother Rita - she died on his birthday 40 years ago & was there for her funeral. His light has gone out in this world but an even brighter light is shining in heaven gathering all our families & friends together as only Fr. Joe could do. May his dear soul rest in peace.

My sincerest sympathy with Joe’s extended family – in particular his sister- in- law, Peig and his cousin, Sean – and with his second family in St. Patrick’s, Kiltegan where, as a classmate , I spent many happy days.
As a student ,Joe was renowned for a relaxed and unhurried approach to life; two traits that were to be the hallmark of his various ministries.
Born and reared in Tents on the Leitrim side of the border with Arigna [my place of birth] , it is no wonder that he loved hill walking and Irish traditional music and singing - in particular the great flute playing of John Mc Kenna , also of Tents .
And despite the cruel way that health problems deprived him of these simple pleasures in the last years of his life, he remained to the end a gentle, saintly man, a great listener who loved the company of others .

Joe has a Renault 4L which he regularly lent to Fr. Tom. He visited us on many occasions when he lived in Sutton. In recent years he did not remember us but meeting him was special because he made you feel special. Rest in peace Joe.
