Deepest sympathies to you Fr Vincent and the wider family circle on the passing of Fr Kevin .Rest in peace.
I heard today of Father Kevin's passing. A wonderful man, a wonderful priest, a wonderful human being.
I met him nearly 40 years ago. He was Parish Priest of Our Lady of Lourdes, Acton. We were aiming to organise Irish music classes, & Irish social activities in the area.
With his help, we not only had music classes, but set dancing sessions, monthly musical get-togethers, we even started a Comhaltas branch.
A club was formed called Acton-Ealing Whistlers. This also got involved in a number of sports including soccer, which still flourishes very successfully today.
Kevin was very involved. He helped a lot of these things get off the ground. He attended many events, was sometimes seen kitted out playing football. He went on a football tour to Holland.
When I first met him, as well as a love of Irish music & culture, we found our Mums remarkably, came from the same parish in Co. Leitrim. He was born in Co Derry, me in lovely London, but our Mum's went to school together. My Mum was Ellen (Nelly) Melia from Limanish Fenagh. A little poem in memory of a wonderful priest & man;
Wonderful Father Kevin,
From the lovely Emerald Isle,
Always with a happy spirit,
Always with a smile;
Now with the Divine,
Radiating peace & sunshine,
With lovely God,
Still making our life journies, easier & fine.
Thanks again Kevin, for so much, God bless you, your family & friends, & all you helped & administered to in your life & vocation, always in my prayers, Dennis 1/5/22

There are no words to explain the support that Fr. Kevin gave to my family and I when we first met at St. Gabriel's, Church in 2007. That day he opened his heart to us and became a close family friend. I have such fond memories with many belly laughs and meaningful conversations we shared. He truly was a gentle giant and a true role model for humility and generousity.
May your memory live on in all of us who were inspired by your faith. You'll forever be in our hearts and prayers. Our loss is Heaven's gain. Until we meet again Kev, you'll be truly missed.
