I met Martin in Molo, Kenya in 1993. I was visiting him with a family friend and we both stayed with Martin and toured about with him. Martin did fantastic work in the parishes in and around Molo, during troubled times.

I remember bumping into Martin by chance in Dublin when he was in Dalkey, not long having returned from Rwanda, which undoubtedly was a difficult time for him, with the genocide. Any time I visited Dublin I met with Martin for a Guinness, or two, well, maybe more.

I had many great chats with Martin and had a great respect for him. He was a great man, wise, well balanced and did amazing things. He had a great sense of honour. It was a pleasure to have known such a great person.

I am sad to hear of Nartin's passing and my thoughts are with his family. A great man.

Rest in Peace Martin.

I am very sorry to hear of Father Murnaghan's death. As a family we were very fond of him while he was the Parish priest in St. Mochta's Porterstown (Dublin 15). My eldest made her first communion with him. I always remember him smiling. Our condolences to his family. RIP.
Deepest sympathy on the death of Martin. My thoughts and prayers are with the family all at this time.
Very sorry to hear of the sudden death of Martin. First met him back in the late 1960 as a fellow member of Palmerston RFC. He enjoyed his rugby to the full and the friendship of his team mates and fellow club members alike.
Rest in peace good man
Martin was a great friend from my UCD days 1973-76 through multiple connections during his various missions in Kenya over the past two and a half decades. Particular fond memories of spending a livelihoods planning week with Martin a few year's back during his mission work in Tenges in central Kenya with the wonderful mission house veranda views over the Great Rift Valley below and escarpment beyond. He was a great host and cook too, and wonderful to have hosted him as our valued guest in Nairobi so often. You were one of a kind Martin and really made a difference to a lot of needy people as well as your friends. Sadly missed and always warmly remembered. Slan leat a cara and keep a spot for us up there.
The Parish Pastoral Council, St Mary's, Star of the Sea, Sandymount, on which Fr Martin served, were deeply grieved to hear of his death in Kenya. Fr Martin was much loved in our parish and he and his family are in our prayers. May he rest in peace.

Crestfallen to hear of Fr Martin's sudden passing. He served here in Sandymount, Dublin, only a short time but it's a measure of the Man that in that brief time he endeared himself to so many and in particular to myself and my Family.
