What a beautiful gentleman. No doubt Fr. Kidney will rest in peace. I knew him back in the 70's/80's in Cope.

Sad to hear of the death of Fr Michael, who was a gentle caring chaplain to the COPE Foundation disability services and the adjacent Honan Home for the Elderly service. May he rest in peace !

It was an honour to know Fr Kidney and to witness his goodness. His work in St Paul’s School was precious to children and staff alike. I will never forget our coffee mornings and our Friday lunches in recent years. All the chats. Rest in Peace Fr K.

1931-2025 so many people experienced the respect, kindness, humour, gentleness and Christian witness of Fr. K. The Dash represents a life of caring for people regardless of their story. Despite his sadness at not being able to continue his work in Nigeria, he made the people of Cork his mission. Every human encounter was special to Fr. K and we felt it.

I am saddned to hear of Fr. Micheal's death. I met him first in 1992. The respect, love, and time that he gave to others is proufound. Rest easy Fr. K. John and Michele Neville and Family.

Fr. Kidney was a stalwart of spiritual life in Scoil Bernadette. From the time he lit the candles on the altar in the hall,a hush descended and the students knew instinctively that Mass was about to start. He loved the choir and would often say ‘sing that hymn again’ which the students loved to do.

My sympathies to all Fr. Michael Kidneys family at this time. Fr. Mick was a true friend to a lot of people. I used to serve mass with him in the Honan Home for the 10am mass and other celebrations. He was absolutely fantastic in calling to my mother and father on Sunday mornings with holy communion and spiritual guidance. We shared a trip to the Titanic experience in Belfast and home in one day which was a truly memorable experience.

A lovely man who will be sorely missed . I met him on occasions when I went on a number of pilgrimages to Lough Derg over the years and we all travelled on the Paddy O' Sullivan organised " get on that bus !!! " special from Cork.
Fr Michael was spiritual director on these pilgrimages and it was a great adventure , with prayers, songs, laughter and reflection. Fr Michael was with you every step of the way to help you with your pilgrimage.

I loved listening to your stories of when you travelled and when you were young and often chuckled when you referred your self as Mick in all those tales.

Condolences to Fr Michaels family and SMA community. He was so helpful down through the years helping to organise and celebrate mass for the Student Nurse graduations at the then Cope Foundation. Nothing was a bother to him, a tiny part of his very busy ministry but he made each one feel special for the Student Nurses. He was incredibly kind in his many interactions with the people supported by Cope Foundation and staff.
