Our sincere condolences to you on the sad loss of Father Mick of whom you are all so justly proud. May he rest in peace.
Our sincere condolences go to the SMA fraternity and the wider Waters and O’Driscoll families and to his many admirers and close personal friends both at home and abroad on the sad passing of Fr. Mick. May he rest in peace.

We remember very clearly Mick’s evident and all-around athletic abilities but we remember in particular his ('almighty') role while playing at centre-field for Cork in that memorable All-Ireland Hurling Final victory of 1966.
Furthermore, we can all be very proud of Fr. Michael’s missionary work and his lifetime vocation and commitment to education and his very practical social work, persistence, endurance and achievements while in Nigeria.

While death leaves a heart ache that no one can heal, it is also true that genuine love and enduring friendships leave us with a host of fond memories of "Mick" that no one can steal. “Go mbeidh na h-Aingeail sna Flaithís ag fanacht le Micheál” is an old Irish Blessing which translates to say “May the angels in Heaven be waiting for Fr. Michael”.
Suaimhneas síoraí dá anam dílis.

Sincere sympathy to the Waters family on the loss of Fr Michael
May he rest in peace
I always knew him as Mick. I was a class ahead of him in Dromantine. He was my Assistant Games Captain. Off the field of play, he was so gentle, humorous and obliging. On the field of play, he was different. Giftedly talented in all sports, he showed no mercy to opponents. He fought for every ball, used his agility to evade opponents and never cringed at defeat.
My mind may be fading, yet I do remember the hurling final of 1966. It was the words of Michael O'Hehir. 'Mick Waters is playing a much better game than the Munster Final. '
I lost contact with Mick due to appointments in Nigeria. I met him in St. Theresa's but he did not know me. I knew his uncle, Fr. Con Murphy in Warri, Nigeria.
I would like to extend my sympathy to all of the Waters and extended families. I would like also to extend my condolences to Fr. Lee Cahill.
He knew Mick so well.
Mick is now with God. In a strange way, God might replay for him the glory of 1966. Nothing is impossible to God.
Mick, you were a wonderful person. I do not say: may you rest in peace; I know you are already resting in peace.
Pat Courtney
