Sincere condolences to Mavis, Michelle and the extended Ryan family on the passing of Fr. Paddy and likewise to his many friends and comrades in Cashel and Tipperary. Like his good friend Fr. Des Wilson, who also passed in his 95th year, Fr. Paddy believed that the Word of God should never be silent in the face of oppression, injustice and suffering and Fr. Paddy often extolled the doctrines of the great church philosopher St. Thomas Aquinas that set out the rights of an oppressed people to fight for their dignity and freedom.
It was a great privilege to have worked with Fr. Paddy over the years and particularly in the 1988/89 period, including his Munster Euro-Election campaign where he received 30,934 first preference votes.
Fr. Paddy now joins in eternal life other great clerical exponents of Ireland's longing for freedom such as Fr. Murphy, Fr. Sheehy, Fr. Kenyon, Fr. Flannagan, and Fr. Piaras Ó' Dúill.
