I last met him in Ballapousta when he reminded me that my Mother (Mona) was his Godmother and was at his ordination. Nice memories.

I will always hold fond memories of being asked to join the parish council with Bernard and all the lovely masses and being asked to become a eucharistic minister at 18 years old by Bernard in the parish of Marley Grange. I was so sorry to hear Fr. Peter has died. I last met him on Ballapousta Sunday. He always encouraged me as a fellow Ardee priest. He will be missed by so many in Ardee. My sympathy and that of the Farrelly family to the Thorne Family.

A caring shepherd to our community in the parish of Blakestown, Bernard ministered to us in a spirit of equality, encouragement and prayerfull solidarity.
He was particularly supportive of his nearest neighbours the staff and students of Blakestown Community School. I remember well his open and welcoming attitude to our pupils and his kindness and generosity to those who taught there especially in the Religion Dept.
Bernard made a huge contribution in building up our faith community.
His faithful service now completed. May he rest in peace.
