Glinsk Community bid a fond farewell to Fr. Peter in August 2004 after a ministry of eight years. There was a feeling of sadness and loneliness but that grief was just a measure of the great esteem in which Fr. Peter was held by every individual in Glinsk.
Fr. Thompson will always be remembered fondly as a gentleman who was gentle, calm and re-assuring. He was always prepared to listen, to appreciate the opinions of others and was always supportive of community projects.
Fr. Peter had a great sense of community and his door was always open to support every person and every group who were involved in any type of community involvement. He appreciated our rich Heritage and he liked to celebrate it at every opportunity.
Fr Peter carved a reputation within our community which was built on the genuine person he was, the work that he did, the support that he gave, the kindness he showed and his commitment and dedication to his priestly duties.
