May Fr Sean's gentle soul rest in peace. Condolences to all his family.
My deepest sympathy to all the Mcgrath family, relations& friends of the late Fr. Sean. As an ex Buchlyvie student, I had the pleasure of knowing Sean both as a teacher and a friend. He was an excellent footballer. Nothing was too much for Sean in terms of giving help or advice. No words of praise for having had the pleasure of knowing him would be too much. May the peace & happiness he so richly deserves be forever his. Rip Sean. 🙏
Deepest sympathy to the McGrath family on the passing of Fr Sean. Fond memories of his visits to our office in Dublin when he came home on summer holidays. May his gentle soul rest in peace.
I was very saddened to hear about Sean's passing. My deepest sympathies to Sean's family, the extended families, his fellow priests at St Patricks Missionary Society & his many friends. I worked in a neighbouring parish to Sean for a few years when working in Sao Paulo Brazil. He took me under his wing when I first arrived & I spent alot of time in his parishes learning portugues. I saw first hand he was a great missionary & communicator that won the hearts of the Brazilians wherever he worked. He was very popular. He firmly believed in the gospel of justice & love & how that related to Brazil. He could'nt give enough of himself with his heart of gold & with a great sense of mischief & humour thrown in!
I am not surprised from social media that his former parishioners & the many leaders he formed while in Brazil are greatly saddened at Fr Seans passing but will have life long fond memories of him & also have stronger faith because of him. Sean Descanse em Paz. agus Leaba, measc na Naomh.

To Fr Sean's brothers and Sisters, and the entire family circle, The St Patrick Missionary Society Community and all who knew him, on behalf of our family I would like to offer our sincere Condolences to you all. Fr Sean along with Fr Joe kept the link between our families for well over 50 years since his time in UCC when he would make a dash from the city to meet his Co Cork cousins. He was such a wonderful humble man, who loved his work with St Patricks, building communities and looking after the poor and marginalised but equally he loved having fun, socialising, and fitted in like a glove when he was with us on his trips to Mitchelstown. He loved the bike, and walking and would be gone off in the morning before any of us got up covering miles of the Ballyhoura mountain roads, and we might not have have been in bed too long at that stage. Wonderful memories of a wonderful man. May he rest in peace.

Dear Ciaran & all the McGrath Family,
We, Michael & Mary are both very saddened to hear that Sean has gone and left us. After a life of extreme sacrifice and dedication to the poorest people of South America he is surely with God. Hopefully, he will intercede for us lesser mortals when our time(s) come.
I,Michael Morris had the pleasure of playing with Sean on the successful UCC Teams in the 1960's. We always had great fun.
It was great to meet him during the decades when he was home from South America.
He was just the best.

It is with profound great sadness that we learned of the death of Fr. Sean, a great man who was an inspiration to all who had the pleasure of knowing him. My late father Eddie Maguire was from Ederney and was a keen footballer, maybe not to the standard of the McGrath’s and when my father came to Scotland Fr. Sean was based in St. Patrick’s Missionaries, Bucklyvie he would often come to the house in Glasgow with Fr. Seamus from Irvinestown who was also stationed in Bucklyvie. I have known doubt that Fr. Sean will be in heaven, counted with all the saint’s. Happy those who die in the Lord, let them rest from their labours as their good dead’s go with them. Des Maguire Glasgow
