So sad to hear the news of Fr Tommy’s passing, and may he rest in peace with great joy and humour too. He was so kind and accommodating to our young people who were involved in the TEC movement in Dublin in the 90s, a kind of Cursillo youth program brought from America. He would rock up and help out as chaplain on many a weekend, no matter how chaotic or boisterous! Nothing was too difficult for him to contribute to, always a gentle way about him and a warmth and humour. We appreciated him and learnt riches of Celtic spirituality that led many in varied directions in life. Love and prayers follow him and we will keep you in our hearts in these times.
Shocked and saddened at the passing of Father Tommy Murphy. I wish to convey my sincere condolences to his brothers and extended Murphy family and the Columban Fathers worldwide. He is a huge loss to the Society. It was during his time as Superior General that the headquarters moved from Dalgan to Hong Kong. I first met him in 2000 when he encouraged me to visit China and accompanied me on the flight from Heath Row to Hong Kong and helped me to travel to Nanfeng in China to visit the first Columban martyrs’ resting place (my cousin Father Tim Leonard). May he have eternal peace I measc na naomh
A beautiful person gone too young but with a very fulfilled life that touched hearts wherever he went.
Rest in eternal peace Fr. Tommy.
Our Deepest Condolences to Padraig, Anna, and Michael on the sad passing of Father Tommy.

May His Gentle Soul Rest In Peace.
My deepest sympathy to the Murphy family and to the Columban family on their sad loss. Fr Tommy was a friend and colleague of Fr Willie Spicer and travelled all the way from Hong-Kong to Westport for Willie’s funeral in 2009. May he Rest in Peace.
Very saddened to hear of Fr Tommy's death. We offer our deepest sympathies to the Murphy family, to his many friends, and to the Columban community in Dalgan Park and throughout the world. As Director at Dalgan in the 1990s, Fr Tommy was very encouraging and supportive to the Meath Peace Group as we sought to build understanding and trust. May he rest in peace.
An absolute gentleman. RIP
My deepest condolences to each and every member in the Murphy family. Hard to describe how we felt at the loss of Father Tommy whose life touched the core of our souls. In the remembrance of his life, I have contributed an aritcle on the Hong Kong Sunday Examiner, our Catholic Weekly, to share and console Father Tommy's family members and all of his dear friends who grieve. We meditators will be present at the Funeral Mass on 28 January, 2023 at St. Joseph's Church, Garden Rd, Hong Kong, China followed by cremation. His ashes will be brought back to Ireland for his loved ones.

May Father smile in Heaven and intercede for us.

When I heard Fr. Tommy had died on January 6th, I thought immediately of Sr. Martha, his aunt, whose 1st anniversary was also on this day. I said she is doing what St. Thérese did, spending her Heaven doing good upon earth. I know she had a part to play in bringing him to Heaven. Oh, what joy for them to be together again. Sr. Martha was very proud of Fr. Tommy and kept him always in her prayers. I am praying for you all at this difficult time.

I was shocked and saddened today to learn of Tommy's death. I extend my sympathies to his natural family and to his Columban family. Following many years in England and as a missionary in Mozambique, Tommy in the early naughties, with his advice and guidance was a great help to me in adjusting back to life and ministry in Ireland. We had not been in touch in recent years but I regularly remembered our conversations from way back then. May he rest in Peace.
