Fr Bill together with Fathers Ted, Harry, Michael and others were regular visitors to our home in Walmer: always welcomed and treated to tea and snacks It was in 1971 that I travelled overseas for a year spending 3 months in Ireland. Visited the Buckleys at Derry and stayed with Betty + Robert for 3 months working in their shop. I have such treasured photos and worked in their shop for 3 months. I have such treasured memories of Peggy, Billy, Bobby Mary and others. Fr Bill with those beautiful blue eyes was so admired and such a dedicated Shepherd and so loved and supported by the poorer people in Algoa Park, the community he served.
You can be proud of him and his unselfish and dedicated service to the priesthood: just another angel in Heaven and another bright, bright star in the sky at night.
Love and special prayers Maureen
We feel blessed to have had Fr. Bill as our priest and friend. He enriched our lives.
May he rest in peace.
I met Fr. Bill here in Munich a number of years ago and thought he was a very friendly person and a great man to talk to. I remember watching a GAA match a number of years ago and Fr. Bill was present as well. Anyway, my friend was using some colourful language so I had to apologise to Fr. Bill and he told me that he was off duty so there was no need to apologise especially because he knows how passionate the Irish are about their GAA. Condolences to the family. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam.
My deepest condolences to the family of Fr Bill. He will be fondly remembered by the people in the King William' Town community South Africa where he served lovingly God's people.
So sad to hear of the passing of Fr. Bill. He married us in Munich in 2006. It was lovely to have an Irish priest marry us abroad. Fr. Bill was a very kind and gentle man , his love of God and his love of Africa shone through any time we spoke. We still have fond memories of him and the beautiful wedding ceremony he said for us.

In our prayers,

Lorraine & Conal O Driscoll, July 20th. 2018, Delgany, County Wicklow.
Fr Bill married my parents in St Don Bosco, KwaZakhele, Port Elizabeth, South Africa, in 1973. He was a revolutionary priest in South Africa in the darkest time. We have lost inspiration iconic - a man of people. Rest in Peace, Bill Buckley! Condolences to the family!
I met Fr Bill in Munich during my final year or so there. What a huge impression he left on me. I'll never forget him during our pilgrimage to Alt Oetting. Such an inspirational and warm leader. You have earned your rest Fr Bill. Rest in Peace my friend.
Thank you Father Bill. I remember fondly the Sunday evening mass moments. Rest in peace. Condolences to his family.
We met Fr Bill in Munich as he took over the reins of running St. Kilian´s. He became a wonderful friend to our family, a frequent visitor to our flats /House and he baptised all of our kids (4). He supported us during the times when I was sick- coming to pray with me in the Hospital. We remember his warm, gentle, funny ,enthusiastic energetic personality and thank God for privilage of being considered friends. May he rest in peace
I met Bill in Munich.
He officiated at many of our fledgling Paddy’s Day Parades.
A gentleman.
May his onward journey bring him much joy and peace.
I worked with Fr Bill in Munich in the late 90's - up to 2001. A man with a huge heart, a big laugh, a passion for justice and for God. He made a huge difference in the lives of many emigrants who had little or no support - at the drop of a hat he would put his bag over his shoulder and head out to meet someone at some train station miles away because they had called and needed a priest. May Bill know peace and rest now, we were blessed to have him in our lives. RIP Fr Bill. My condolences to his family and friends.
