My deepest sympathies to Breda, Donal and all the Walsh family on the sad passing of Fr. Willie. He was a lovely kind man, family friend, and a majestic midfielder in our football heyday of the 70s. May he rest in peace.

Condolences to the relatives of Father Willie. I knew him when he was Parish Priest at Our Lady of the Holy Rosary , Limerick. Lovely gentle man who gave very thoughtful homilies. I last met him earlier this year in Carrigoran and it was so sad to see how Alzheimer’s had depleted him.

So sad to hear this. Such lovely memories of Fr. Willie growing up, i will always remember his lovely, smiling, friendly face. He conducted the ceremony for my first Holy Communion and years later he obliged my husband and I by conducting our marriage ceremony.
As a child, in primary school,i can remember how strict some priests were with us but will always remember the relief of when we would see Fr. Walsh visiting our classroom to hear us sing our hymns and how genuinely kind hearted he was.
I used to love when he would pay us all a visit at home in Granville park.
Rip Fr Walsh, you will always be remembered xxx

Sincere sympathy to the family, Bishop Breandan and the priests of the Diocese on the death of Fr. Willie. Fr Willie was most accommodating with the annual Remembrance service in UMHL. A request for an urgent visit to the hospital was never a problem and he was always so kind, gentle and compassionate to everyone. Rest in peace Fr Willie.

Saddened to hear of Fr Willie Walsh’s passing. He christened our children in the Holy Rosary church and was always a pleasure to deal with.

I was so sorry to learn of Father Walsh's death. He was a lovely, kind and gentle man. When he first came to Our Lady of the Rosary parish he made a point of visiting the homes across his parish - even of those who were not regular attendees at the church. He was the only one who has done so. That alone impressed me. All of our interactions afterwards were of a similar kind. I missed him when he left the parish. May he rest in well-deserved peace.

Condolences to the immediate and wider Walsh family at this sad time on the passing of Fr Willie. His empathy and compassion with and for people during his time in Croom, Sarsfield Barracks and all other locations is much admired and highly regarded. We chatted about that when I met with Breda and Donal Carroll a number of years ago, great memories much treasured. We kicked football together, a great team mate and mentor to me and many other players, well before such concepts were fully figured out. Rest in well deserved peace.
