My condolences to the Baynes family. I worked with Francis in Welocalize, and it was always a pleasure to run into Francis in the office. He had always some kind words or a story to tell. RIP Francis.

I only knew Francis through the SVP. My abiding memory is walking past the conference meeting room door to my own meeting. Francis's conference members would all be early generally for the meeting and I would see them all huddled over the table in pairs checking the requests for help, and Francis floating around the room letting the other members be involved and only intervening if requested. No wonder he kept all his members and had such an active conference, he was an example how a conference should be run, making his members feel involved and at home. They did and with Francis's inspiration will continue to do great work for the poor of West Tallaght.
God rest him and support the family at this sad and difficult time.

Shocked, sad but what happy memories there are to gladden your hearts in the times to come. He showed his fatherly traits early to me his younger-by-half 5 year old cousin when he let me wear his Boy Scout uniform and taught me how to be a Scout. It felt so inclusive, grown up and very important. The fact that I remember it sixty years later is testament enough to how he made me feel on that day and others.
He was an ambitious, successful, caring man. I offer my commiseration to Sandra and his girls.
