I was very saddened to hear of the recent passing of Mr Cunningham. Not only was Noel a fantastic Maths and Science teacher, he was an absolutely fantastic person and a real gentleman. May you rest in peace Noel!

Derek - Saint Mark’s Community school (1979-1984).
Remember you as a beacon of kindness in an institution not noted for it all those years ago. Rest in peace
Noel taught me science in St Eunan's College. I never forgot him and had the pleasure of meeting him some time back, so many years after leaving St Eunan's. He was an inspirational teacher.
Noel (or Mr C as he was known) was my maths teacher in St. Marks Community School, Tallaght. He was both an amazing teacher and a most kind and gentle man. When he and his wife Patsy lived in Belgard Heights I also lived there and regularly called up to see Mr C for a cuppa. I was always welcomed with a smile both from Noel & Patsy and we had some lovely chats. I was saddened to hear of his passing today, may he rest in peace with his lovely wife. RIP Noel.
So sorry to hear of Noel's death. A true gentleman with a great sense of humour. May he rest in peace now with his beloved Patsy 🙏

Ann Murray (ex St. Mark's)
Noel's kind words and guiding hand not only helped a lot of students at St.Mark's, but also many of his colleagues, including myself. He was a genuine gentleman. My deepest sympathies to all his family.
Dear Cunningham Family, My friend is remembered well for the support and friendship in St. Mark's School, Noel, you were always kind, thoughtful, and education of the Children was all that mattered. A huge loss, rest in peace my friend.

Noel will always be remembered by me as head of the maths department in St. Marks.
I always enjoyed looking at his blackboard display of numbers and letters. He was so neat. I would have loved to have been a student of his with his gentle humour and amazing ability to teach maths.
Rest in peace Noel.

It is so sad to hear of Noel’s passing.
I extend my deepest sympathy to his family, friends and carers.
Noel educated the hearts and minds not only of his students but of a generation of teachers at St Mark’s. In his company we were always learning, always growing. He leaves a rich legacy.
I feel blessed to have journeyed a while with him. Thank you Noel.
Codladh sámh anois agus suaimhneas síoraí duit i leaba Dé.

So sorry to hear this. Noel was a huge influence on me when I started teaching. He showed me the value of listening to students. He always had time for a chat, no matter who the student or what they'd done. An absolute gentleman. Thinking of his family and all who knew him.
It was a privilege to have taught with Noel in St Mark's Community School. His wisdom, kindness and gentle words of encouragement to those of us starting out in our teaching careers have remained over the years. Suaimhneas síoraí air.
Noel was a great friend and mentor to myself and other young teachers in St. Marks Community School. A true gentleman and so wise. Condolences to Kathleen and the Family.
So sorry to hear of Noel's passing. He was truly a gentle man and it was our privilege to know himself and Patsy during Noel's time teaching in St Marks in Tallaght. May they both rest in peace.
Very sorry to hear this news. Noel (or Mr Cunningham as we always knew him in St Mark's CS) was a kind and gifted teacher who always patiently explained the most difficult of math concepts to his students (myself included). He left a tremendous legacy with those he taught there over many years, and will be fondly remembered.
I'm so sorry to hear of the passing of Noel. A great friend and colleague who freely gave advice and help over many years.
Noel was a thorough gentleman who gave selflessly to pupils and staff alike during his time in St Mark's Community School. He will be sorely missed by everyone who was fortunate to have crossed his path.
May Noel's gentle soul R. I. P.
Sincere sympathy to all Noel’s family. It was a real privilege to have known Noel and Patsy.
They were our guests on their frequent trips to Dublin over the years .

.y deepest sympathy to you Kathleen and the Cunni gham family on the death of your brother Noel. I knew Noel when he lived in Carrick. He was always so pleasant even at school. May he rest in peace. Marie. Malone. nee O Byrne. Doonin
For my Uncle Noel. It is a times like these that makes it hard to live so far away. I was very fond of Uncle Noel. Some of my earliest memories are of him when he would visit our house in Galway - going for the newspaper on a saturday morning, and him reading it while driving on the way back. When in college, my friend Mike and I stayed with Noel and Patsy (and Samson the basset) in Tallaght many times. In later years whenever I managed to get home, I would try to make the trip to Donegal. He had always such a great welcome, a wonderful smile on his face, and I dont think I ever saw him in a bad mood! The last time I saw him, in March this year, we even sang a verse of a wee song together.
Noel, may you rest in peace alongside Patsy.
Noel and Patsy were our neighbours when we were growing up in Belgard Heights, Tallaght, Dublin. They were always so friendly to us and would bring sweets home from holidays even if we did annoy them when we were kids by walking on their freshly planted grass or making their dog Samson bark. I have fond memories of catching bumble bees in jars in their garden. Rest in peace Noel and Patsy before him.
Noel was a lovely gentle human being. He was always thankful to those that tended to him and visited him and he was blessed to have such fantastic carers and neighbours. We were very privileged to have been able to spend time with him over recent years in Redcastle. We will miss him very much.

Ar Dheis Dé go raibh a anam dílis
Noel was a genuine devoted Christian. His love of Christ was mirrored in his respect for all he met. During his illness this last few years he had many difficult days but no matter how difficult he would always have a warm sincere welcome for any visitor and any visit would end with an invitation to meet again.
He got the best of care in his final years from both HSE carers and his own carers. He is with his beloved Patsy now.
Ar Dheis Dé go raibh a anam dílis

Sincere sympathy to Noel's family and friends. He was a friend to everyone. And will be sorely missed.
You were a gentleman Noel. Sleep softly with Patsy now.
RIP Noel, you're with auntie Patsy now.
My deepest sympathies to all his family on Noel's sad passing, R.I.P. I spent five years sitting beside Noel in Maynooth, from 1960 to 1965, in the class halls, dining room etc. We struck up a great relationship, after initial 'accent' difficulties; Noel from Donegal (Raphoe) and I from Cork (Cloyne). I remember his many kindnesses to me; always great company. May he rest gently now in eternal peace, with all his loved ones who have gone before him.
My deepest sympathy to the Cunningham family. The first and only human priest I ever met in St.Eunans College 1967-68. 52 yrs. later I was able to contact him and to say thanks - he even lent his car to me as a student - unheard of! Thanks Noel you were too good to be a priest in that college! R.I.P

Lasfaidh muid coinnle daoibh. Béidh cuimhne i gcónaí agam ar do chinealtas liom fhéin agus le mo mháthair seal fada ó shin. Rath Dé ort fhéin agus ar do chúram
