Please accept our sympathies on the passing of Frank. I recall meeting Frank at the Mustard Seed Festival in Glencree, in 1976! Curiously, I saw this young boy who, somehow looked familiar ,so I asked him who he was. It was a different Ireland then! He introduced himself as Shane Ahern and brought us over to his father, Frank. We were then introduced to Elizabeth and Aoife. We also met Aoife in Madrid some years ago.
We got to watch the live stream of Frank’s funeral mass from St Dominic’s church. Excellent eulogy from his son, Shane.
Sympathies to Shane and Aoife and Frank’s grandchildren.
Sympathies also to John and Peter, and families, on the passing of your brother.
If we get to meet up sometime, we might join John in a verse of Lord Franklin, or The Isle, or some appropriate song to remember Frank. He did seem very content and fulfilled in his latter years and filled with gratitude for his blessings. May he rest in peace.
To his family and to Michael and Peter my sincerest condolences on the passing of Frank

Deepest Sympathy to the Ahern family.Lovely memories of our youth in Limerick.Rest in Peace Frank.
Frank was always a very strong character whom we looked up to as kids growing up on Shannon Drive. He needed to be being born in the middle of such a talented family of siblings with exceptional parents. His life story, so eloquently told and which I did not know much about, is inspiring. Sincerest sympathy to John and Peter. May Frank rest in peace.
We lived in the same Street as the Ahern family. They were all so bright and proper. His mother Maureen was an exceptional person and without doubt was born 100 years before her time . I remember his brother Peter so well even though a little older than me. He played hooker on Crescent Senior cup team and was not allowed touch the ball. A truly fantastic family led by a mother whom was one of the greats ..
Deepest sympathy to Peter and all Frank's family. I remember the Skiffle group in the Cresent Hall so well. May Frank rest in peace

I first met Frank in 1970s at old IRELAND'S 32 in the Mission District. Frank was true. Frank was very experienced, educated and currently informed. I believe Frank had the most cogent understanding of Ireland, North and South. He reported for and wrote in the old Irishman newspaper, plus on his own local weekly tv series, "Irish Magazine", and many other outlets including a radio show. Frank helped me produce a successful One Woman in person on stage theater production for "Siobhan McKenna" with short notice which sold out all performances. Frank was a fervent member of Irish Forum and early supporter of Dialogue for Peace. He proposed his Alma Mater, Limerick University establish Irish Forum scholar-ships and awards.r Frank made many contributions and had many friends. Frank visited our home in Mill Valley and we frequently visited him, including in Hospital. Frank continued coming to our Irish. Literary & Historical Society events. Frank loved his family Thanks be to God for Frank. Pat G.
