Frank Hayden

My sincere condolences to Mrs Hayden, Sr Collette, Louise, Nicola and the extended Hayden family, on the very sad passing of Mr Hayden. The hospitality extended from the Hayden home still holds many lovely memories. My thoughts and prayers are with you all and may Mr. Hayden Rest In Peace. May your cherished memories bring you comfort and joy in these sad times.

Sincere sympathy to Florentine & to the Hayden & Regan families on Frank's passing from this life R.I.P. We'll all miss his philosophical musings, spiritual outlook & witty remarks. It was in the Summer of 1950 that I first met Frank when we steeled ourselves before embarking on boarding school in Summerhill College Sligo. Our friendship grew out of mutual solidarity in that first year of secondary school & never waned in all the years since then.
Thereafter our mutual interest in Gaelic football , specially at parish level, ensured we were in fairly regular contact. In 1995 I was happy to collaborate with him in preparing a presentation to the members of the United Stars(Oran & Creggs juniors combined) team that won the senior county championship in 1960. A 35th jubilee was unusual but Frank quite wisely thought we should celebrate while all members of the team were still alive !
Sadly many of that team are now gone to their eternal reward. We pray that Frank & all his deceased relatives & friends will now join them in heavenly peace. Go ndéana trócaire orthu go léir. Slán is beannacht Frank, Leaba i measc na naomh go raibh agat .

He was such a lovely man - sincere and principled, warm and compassionate, kind and good humoured. A model public servant, he and my father Oliver shared an office in the Land Commission for many years and were such great pals with shared values and humour, a perfect work pairing. I am also grateful for Frank's sincere kindness to me on a sad occasion in my life.

I had the privilege of working with Frank in the Land Tax in Cork many years ago. Frank was a great mentor and an absolute pleasure to work with him. I still think of some of the advice he gave me over 36 years ago . A true gentleman.
