We had the privilege of Frank’s friendship, professional support and camaraderie for the past 16 years from the time he and Rita were based in Brazil. We also enjoyed his warm friendship in retirement hiking in Co Wicklow and through our membership of Probus Dun Laoghaire Marine, an interest that greatly appealed to Frank.

He was a wonderful friend whose absence will be deeply and widely felt. But he was also intensely interested in his family, including all in the wider circle. Each of them were cherished, admired and loved. To all we extend our heartfelt sympathy.

Dear Rita,
I am so sorry to hear about Frank. I was very fortunate that he was my first Ambassador when I joined the Department (in Mozambique). I admired his warmth and sincerity and it was clear how much he valued family.
Sending my sincere condolences,
I am very sad to learn that Frank has passed away. Frank was a great civil servant, full of decency, energy and integrity, who was held in the highest regard by all his colleagues. He was also a great story teller with a wicked sense of humour, which made him an excellent travelling companion! I am sure Rita and family will miss him terribly and I wish you all strength at this sad time.
