We loved his charm and charisma and we are blessed to have been able to spend many days sipping Manhattans with him. Rest in peace uncle D. Love always Yvonne,Tony,Liam and Ethan.
I remember Derek as a friendly, engaging priest and brother-in-law and over the years he became closer and closer to my family. Sailing holidays with Derek were wonderful whether it was on the Shannon, out in the bay or sailing to Kinsale with Betty, Joan and myself. Spending time with him in LA and seeing how his Korean parishioners loved him was a special experience for Joan and I. Today is a sad day for me. The bond between Joan and Derek was very special, Joan died 11 years ago today and now Derek.
Rest in peace Derek knowing that you were much loved by many, many people
