Mr Gygax (Fred) as we all knew him was an integral part of the Saint Annes community. I remember him as a gentleman who always had a smile on his face who would never pass you without passing you the time of day. Very fond memories of childhood summers spent in Raheny at the Sugarloaf Cake Shop with the Gygax family, eating our bodyweight in broken kit kats, polly pineapple lollys and the most fantastic cakes imaginable. Fred and Josephine also had a Whole Foods Section - a rarity in Ireland at the time. Ar dheis de a anam deilis Fred.

I am saddened to hear of Fred's death although he certainly lived a full and long life. I have happy memories of many games of golf with him in Royal Dublin. He was the most pleasant of people to play with and a devoted member. My condolences to all his family. May he rest in peace.

We heard this news with great sadness and are fondly remembering Mr Gygax (as he always will be to us) today as a kind, hard working, family and community man who was ahead of his time in terms of health, fitness and nutrition. Fred was such an endearing, engaging, genuine and kind soul with a wicked sense of humour! It was such a pleasure and an honour getting to know and care for Fred the past several years.
