Well, it was never boring and it was always entertaining and a pleasure. Wonderful person and we enjoyed many a night in OD’s with Freddy and Paschal Brennan. In our thoughts and prayers. Rest in Peace Freddy but don’t lose that spirit and generous nature.

Condolences to the McConnell family on the very sad death of your beloved Freddie.He was such a warm, funny and entertaining person. I first .met him in 1966 in Carlingford. It was like Tìr na nÒg. It was a wonderful experience working with him. He was always in good form with a permanent smile and full of mischief. It was a joy to be in his company and a pleasure to have known him. Sincerest condolences to David and Mia and the extended McConnell family on the passing of Freddy rip. Freddy has been a valued friend of our family for upwards of 40 years. We’ve had some memorable times together. When our children were smaller he towed his boat down to the Shannon where we all had a ball of a weekend. They all remember that to this day and they add their condolences. We also planned a pig roaste in the wilderness with his great friend Paschal Brennan. It’s still talked about around Killmacud to this day (I’m talking about the early nineties).

Grandad was the best of us all. As I grew up living with him he influenced the way I lived my life, from the movies he watched and the music he played.I gained so much wisdom and knowledge from him that I truly believe he’s made both Jack and I into the people we are today, no matter what happens he will always be my Grandad, love you Fred<3

I am so sorry to hear of the sad passing of Freddy Rip. He was a legend in the Customs and Excise service..
I have so many great memories of his kindness to all us young “Culchies” when he took us under his wing in Stack R Alex Quay.
His Triumph estate was famously known as “The McGinley bus” piling us all in to get us back
to town ( seat belts hadn’t been invented then)
I could go on with many stories but probably the best was his devoted love for Hilda rip and you Mia and David.
May his gentle soul rest in eternal peace .

Freddy was one in a million, many would say 1 in a billion! He is now with his true love Hilda and without yourself and Brendan's care and support, he would have passed right after Hilda. He will be sadly missed by anyone who met him, because his laugh lit up a room anywhere he went.

We built a little friendship together, chatting about all his lovely grandchildren and listening to his favourite songs. Very sad not to hear the “tea for two” call-out again in odwyers! Freddie was what Joe Duffy aspired to , he could lift you up when you were down and raise your spirits. A lifetime as how life should be lived. Condolences to all his family and fear not he won’t be forgotten
